As educators, we often never know the influence we have on our students. It is always wonderful to have ___35___ students visit us and share the successes they have achieved. And those glorious moments, when we can instantly see the influence we have on a student, fuel us to continue making connections hoping to ___36___ in the life of every child.
As a music teacher for twenty-seven years, I have always known that music ___37___ the soul. It can ___38___ all kinds of barriers to reach students in a very special way. It can be the ___39___ for each child to find their light. I would like to share a story about it.
For a few years I was blessed with the opportunity to teach ___40___ students one afternoon a week. One of my most ___41___ students was a five-year-old girl called Vanessa, who had difficulty walking, and could not speak. We ___42___ sat on the floor for our music lessons and Vanessa liked to sit on my lap. One of her favorite songs was “John the Rabbit.” It was a call and response song where I sang the call and the students ___43___ twice while singing the repeating phrase, “Oh, yes!” Vanessa liked to ___44___ her hands together with mine and clap with me. We probably performed that song during every class, Vanessa and I clapping together. But she ___45___ said or sang a word.
One day late in the school year, when the song was finished, Vanessa turned around, looked me dead in the eye, clapped her tiny hands twice and said the words “Oh, yes!” I opened my mouth in ___46___ and for that moment I was the one who could not speak. When my heart ___47___ started beating again, I looked over at the assistant teacher to find her also ___48___. Through music, we had made an awesome connection.
Several years later, I passed Vanessa on the street in town. I stopped my car and waved to say hello. She waved back with a big ___49___ on her face and then clapped her hands twice, imitating the song we had ___50___ so many times in our music class. This precious little girl, ___51___ her connection with music, left an impression on me that will last forever. Every child has the ___52___ to learn and grow. It is up to us as educators to ___53___ the way to reach each and every one of our students. We all must find each child’s ___54___.

I grew up poor — living with six brothers, three sisters and my mother. We had little money, but plenty of love and 36 . I was happy and energetic. I understood that no matter how poor a person was, he could still 37 a dream.
My dream was 38 . By the time I was sixteen, I could throw a ninety-mile-per-hour baseball and 39 anything that moved on the field. I was also 40 : my high school coach was John, who not only 41 me, but also taught me how to believe in myself. He 42 me the difference between having a dream and showing conviction (信念). One particular incident with coach John changed my life forever.
A friend 43 me for a summer job. This meant a chance for money in my pocket — money for a new bike, new clothes and the 44 of savings for a house for my mother. Then I realized I would have to 45 up summer baseball to handle the work schedule, and that meant I would have to tell John I wouldn’t be playing.
When I told John, he was as 46 as I expected him to be. “You have your whole life to work,” he said, “Your 47 days are limited. You can’t afford to waste them.” I stood before him with my head 48 , trying to think of the words that would 49 to him why my dream of buying my mom a house and having money in my pocket was worth facing his 50 in me.
“Well,” he asked, “is $3.5 an hour the 51 of a dream?”
That simple question made 52 to me the difference between 53 something right now and having a goal. I devoted myself in sports that summer and 54 the year I was chosen by the Pittsburgh Pirates to play baseball, and 55 a $ 20,000 contract(合同). Later, I bought my mother the house of my dream!

Ever since I was little I loved doing things for other people. As I got older I began doing random ( 随意的 ) things for people. For example, during holidays, such as Christmas, I would make an extra 21 along with the ones for my relatives. Then I would go and find someone in the grocery store and just hand it to them and walk away. It was so much fun. I admit, 22 , the first time I did it I was so 23 . I didn’t know who to give the card to. So I said a little prayer and knew that the 24 person would just appear. About that time an elderly man ran 25 me with his shopping cart. It was an accident, and he 26 a million times. We smiled and he walked away, and I knew that he was the one. Later I found him in a different isle(过道), handed him the card, and smiled. I said Happy Holidays, and then walked away. It was so great, and the 27 I had afterwards was unexplainable.
Then one day I came across your website (the coolest website ever) and 28 some Smile Cards. When they came in, I started a new project. When I go into a store, I locate a person who I think needs a 29 . Then, I buy a flower, a carnation, to be exact, and 30 it in the most beautiful paper they have. I tie lots of ribbons on it to make it 31 , and then slip the smile card into an envelope and 32 it to the flower. After that, I pay for it and explain to the cashier 33 it is to go to (I live in a pretty small town so it’s easy to get the help of the cashiers). They then give it to that person when they come through.. Once in a while I’ll buy the flower and then just leave it for the cashier. That gets smiles.
My favorite time was when I picked out this elderly woman who was walking around the 34 somewhat confused. I had come across her numerous times and she only smiled slightly once. When she came to the check out (I was watching from outside) her face 35 and the smile was the biggest I had ever seen. Later that week the cashier whom I had had 36 me told me that the lady had been so surprised and while she was walking out with the grocery bag to her car, she was planning what she was going to do for someone else. It was awesome.
I absolutely love the random acts of kindness cards. I 37 at least two in my purse and others in my car, locker and everywhere I go. As I mentioned, my club, STARS, is doing a Random Acts of Kindness Project with the smile cards so they also are using them. I look forward to hearing about their success. It’s really great. I 38 used them in school. I bought my entire math class cans of pop after lunch one day. They came in from lunch and a can of pop and a smile card were setting 39 that day. It totally lightened the mood in the class that day 40 we were studying for a test. Thank you for all of the help that you provide. The smile cards are a great program that brings smiles into the lives of many!

Once there was a very brilliant, creative and educated man. He gained much 36 while traveling throughout the world. 37 , he lost his legs and left arm in a tragic accident, leaving only a finger and thumb on his right hand. He became so depressed(沮丧的)that he was afraid he would spend his life 38 and would no longer be able to use his life in a(n) 39 way.
One day, he remembered how he had always loved getting 40 . He realized that he still had partial 41 of his right hand and could write with 42 . Then, he had an idea. “Why not write to other people who need encouragement?”
He 43 where he could find those who could be encouraged if they read his letters. He thought of people in 44 . Many of them had hope of regaining their 45 . Others would keep feeling depressed and remain put away for the rest of their lives. He decided that he must try to 46 them. So he wrote to a prison ministry about sending letters to the prisoners. The prison minister replied that writing to the prisoners would be 47 . However, it would be against prison rules for the prisoners to write back.
48 with the intention, the man began sending 49 messages of God’s love, hope, strength, and encouragement. He wrote twice a week, testing his strength and ability to the limit. He poured his heart and soul 50 his words, 51 his experience, sense of humor, optimism, and faith.
It was difficult to write those letters, especially without hope of any 52 . Frequently, he felt discouraged, wondering if anyone 53 read his letters. However, this was his 54 chance,so he determined to continue.
At last, he received a letter from the prison officer, which said, “Please write on the best paper you can afford. Your letters are passed from cell (牢房) to cell until they almost fall to 55 !”

A wise man was visiting the Ganges, a river which flows through northern India, to take a bath. He found a group of family members on the 16 , shouting angrily at each other. He 17 his disciples (弟子), smiled and asked, “Why do people shout in 18 at each other?”The disciples 19 for a while and one of them said, “Because we 20 our calm, we shout.”“But, why should you shout 21 the other person is just next to you? You can as well tell him what you have to say in a(n) 22 manner,” asked the wise man. Some disciples gave some other answers, but none 23 the other disciples. Finally the wise man explained, “When two people are angry at each other, there is a distance between their 24 . To cover that distance they must shout to be able to 25 each other. The angrier they are, the louder they will have to shout to 26 that great distance. What 27 when two people fall in love? They don't shout at each other but talk softly, because their hearts are very 28 . The distance between them is either nonexistent (不存在的) or very small.”
The wise man 29 ,“When they love each other even more, they do not 30 , but only whisper and they get even closer to each other. Finally they 31 need not whisper. They only look at each other and that's 32 . That is how close two people are when they love each other.”
He looked at his disciples and said, “So when you 33 , do not let your hearts get distant. Do not say words that distance each other more. 34 there will come a day when the distance is so great that you'll not find the path to 35 . You may end up becoming enemies, for instance.”

When I was a teenager I volunteered to work at the water station at a 10,000m race. My job was to 21 water to the runners. I remember being so 22 to see all the different kinds of people who passed by and grabbed a cup of water. Some ran past, some walked past and a few wheeled past. I saw so many types of people doing it. I thought maybe I could do it too! So the next year I 23 up for the race.
That first 10,000m race was quite an 24 . I jogged, I walked, I jogged and I walked. 25 , I didn’t know if I could finish. Then came a defining (决定性) 26 .
At one point near the end, a 70-year-old man ran past me, very, very fast, and I felt 27 because I was 50 years younger than he but I couldn’t even keep up with him. I felt 28 for a second.
But then I 29 something. He was running his race and I was running mine. He had 30 abilities, experience, training and goals for himself. I had mine. Remember my 31 was only to finish.
After a minute, it 32 me that this was a lesson I could draw from. I learned something about myself in that moment. I turned my embarrassment into 33 .
I 34 that I would not give up on running races. In fact, I would run even more races and I would learn how to train and prepare 35 and one day I would be one of those 70-year-old persons who were still running. As I crossed the finish line, I was proud of my 36 .
In life we all have those moments where we 37 ourselves to others. It’s only 38 . Don’t allow those moments to 39 you. Turn them into motivation and let them inspire you. With the proper preparation and training, you can improve your result to 40 anything you want in life.

I recently overheard something that surprised me. I heard that people who win the lottery (彩票) are__21_for about 3 weeks. And then they go back to their__22__state of being before they won the money.I__23__that they would have been happy for a much longer time.
The reason for this is that__24__we try to change how we feel by using something outside of ourselves, like winning the lottery,or getting a new car or house,it never__25__.The resulting feelings of happiness are often fleeting (飞逝的).We cannot__26__them for very long.In some way,it may be a good thing. It reminds us that happiness really does come from within and is__27__to us at any moment.True happiness has__28__to do with what is happening outside;it is an inside job.Happiness is a__29__.
We can make the decision to be happy for one day, when we__30__in the morning, every morning. We can find something that brings us great __31__,like sitting outside in the garden under an old tree and__32__the birds sing,or watching the dog or cat play, and just__33__the moment. It is our__34__state and we need only allow it in.At any moment,we can__35__,take a deep breath, and remember who we really are,and why we came here, and that truly is to__36__joy and the aliveness of being.
“Happiness is like a butterfly which, when run after,is always __37__our reach, but,if you will sit down___38__,may fall upon you,” said Nathaniel Hawthorne,an American novelist. So,today,no matter what is going on in your own__39__,stop and take a few moments to breathe deeply and just__40__to be happy, whatever that means to you.

A hospital is needed by every living person at the time of birth, death, physical injuries, or sickness. It is always a 16 place where family members can gather around the person who needs the 17 of well trained medical doctors and nurses.

When I woke next morning, I was dying of 36 .I seemed to have a hole instead of a 37 I dressed quickly and hurried down to the dinning-room. It was a big room with six tall windows and the ugliest wallpaper(背景墙) I had ever seen ! 38 , I had been told the hotel was not beautiful but that you were better 39 there than in any other hotel; and that was 40 I wanted just then.
The waiter came hurrying up. Before I came downstairs I had prepared 41 carefully for what I must 42. I had looked three times in my dictionary to make sure 43 “breakfast” really meant “breakfast”. I had tried to get the right 44 and I had stood in the front of a mirror and twisted my mouth until it ached.
The waiter asked me 45 I could not understand, but I spoke only my one prepared word “breakfast”. He looked at me in a 46 way, so I repeated it, still he did not understand. It was 47 that English people didn’t understand their language. The waiter 48 his head and went away, but he came back in a minute and brought a tray with tea, bread and butter--- enough to feed a small army--- and went away. But I was hungry, and I left 49. When the waiter came back I thought his face showed a little 50, but you can never 51 what a waiter’s face really shows. In another minute he brought 52 tray with some bacon(熏肉) and some eggs. He 53 have misunderstood me , but I thought it was no use explaining to people who don’t understand their own language , so I just set to work on the bacon and eggs, wondering whether I could possibly clear that plate.
Well, I finished the bacon and eggs. I got up and made my way slowly to my room-----at least five pound 54 . I never believed until then that any meal could 55 me, but on that day I met my Waterloo(滑铁卢).

Most people believe they don’t have much imagination. They are 11 . Everyone has imagination, but most of us, once we become adults, forget how to 12 it. Creativity isn’t always 13 with great works of art or ideas. People at work and in their free time 14 think of creative ways to solve problems. Maybe you have a goal to achieve, a tricky question to answer or you just want to expand your mind! Here are three techniques to help you.
Making connections. This technique involves taking 15 ideas and trying to find links between them. First, think about the problem you have to solve or the job you need to do. Then find an image, word, idea or object, for example, a candle. Write down all the ideas/words 16 with candles: light, fire, matches, wax, night, silence, etc. Think of as many as you can. The next stage is to relate the 17 to the job you have to do. So imagine you want to buy a friend an original 18 ; you could buy him tickets to match or take him out for the night.
NO limits! Imagine that normal limitations don’t 19 . You have as much time /space / money, etc. as you want. Think about your goal and the new 20 . If your goal is to learn to ski, 21 , you can now practise skiing every day of your life (because you have the time and the money). Now 22 this to reality. Maybe you can practise skiing every day in December, or every Monday in January.
Be someone else! Look at the situation from a 23 point of view. Good businessmen use this technique in trade, and so do writers. Fiction writers often imagine they are the 24 in their books. They ask questions: What does this character want? Why can’t she get it? What changes must she make to get what she wants? If your goal involves other people, put yourself in their 25 . The best fishermen think like fish!

I was__46__ when she was asking me this now. I always thought this was a __47__ between her and me. She saw the __48__ on my face and told me,“This question is very important. It shows that you have really__49__ your life.” I saw her eyes well up with tears. She said,“My dear, the most important body part is your __50__.”I asked,“Is it because they hold up your head?” She replied,“No,it is __51__ on them a crying friend or a loved one can rest his or her head. I only hope that you have enough __52__ and friends and that you will have a shoulder to cry __53__ when you need it.” Then and there I understood the most important body part is not a __54__ one.
