Music helps us exercise﹣but why does it have this effect?Experts say there are two main reasons.The(1) is simple:music takes our attention away. When we listen to a song we like, our brains focus on the music. For example, after we exercise(2) 20 minutes, our body might be tired. But we may not feel this immediately(3) we are listening to music. So we can exercise a little longer.
Music also makes us want to move. When we hear dance music, for example, we naturally start to move to the beat. A positive song also puts us in a good mood, so we feel much(4) .This gives us energy and helps us exercise longer. Music with a quick and continuing beat is good for exercising. "But the music shouldn't be too fast,"(5) Dr. Costas, a famous sports expert. In general, songs in the range of 120﹣140 beats per minute (BPM) are the best.
Robots Are Now Teaching English!
Get ready. Robots are about to invade our classroom. From Korea to Japan to the United States, schools are putting English﹣speaking robots in front of their students. In Korea, robots are the new teaching assistants in a number of preschools and kindergartens. The young students say that the robots are fun, but are these children really learning anything?
I don't think a computer will ever be able to do what a teacher does. A teacher has to be able to respond to students as individuals (个体).__▲__and a teacher has to change his or her teaching style to fit the needs of the student. I seriously doubt that a computer will ever be able to do this even though the big data (数据)is widely used in the world.
4 Comments on "Robots Are Now Teaching English!"
Sara says:
In my opinion, schools should spend money training human teachers rather than buying robots. Research shows that children learn more from real speakers than from recorded conversations.
Keiko says:
I don't think you can learn a language without real human interaction. After all, robots cannot think as humans do.
Hassan says:
Robots might be able to help people lean a language, but I don't think they should replace teachers because robots are just machines without human feelings.
Nancy says:
I think robots might be very helpful in the classroom. A child might be less afraid to make a mistake in front of a robot than in front of a real person.

Very often. when we see young people sitting there. looking at the screen of mobile phone and smiling. we may think nothing is wrong. But when we come to the question how much time do they actually spend on media (传播媒介) daily?", the answer is surprising go young people spend about nine hours every day using media, and this only includes media used for enjoyment.
Today's young people seem to have become crazy multitaskers. They often use media when doing other activities. Some watch TV when doing homework, some text (发短信),and some others listen to music. Scientists did a research among more than 400 students. I shows that those who text a lot have more trouble sleeping and do worse in their study. In another research. students who didn't text during a lesson took down a lot more notes than those who were texting. A similar research also found that students who texted when doing schoolwork had lower overall (总体的) grades.
According to a research, if a kid uses social media a lot, especially at night he or she will sleep worse and feel more nervous and depressed (消沉的).On the one hand, young people stay up late to check messages and information. They may also be woken up by messages they receive. On the other hand, even the light from a screen could influence their sleep. My dear boys and girls good morning. Today I'm going to talk to you about my understanding of learning history.
Many of you may think it is a terrible thing to study history. You may often wonder why we students should study something that has nothing to do with our own lives. If you think that way, I should say you are far from the truth.
In fact, if we study history. we can learn quite a lot about personal stories and events (事件) of people just like us. The people who came before us helped build and develop the country we are living in. Their ides often solved many of our problems and troubles. Studying the past helps us to understand what our ancestors' (祖先) lives were like, And it also helps us to see how their experiences have shaped our own life.
To be honest,__▲__.Some of what we study in history helps us understand the mistakes of the past. And these mistakes will help people not to do the same wrong things. People often learn from the past to have a better future.
Whether we like the subject of history or not,we must understand the important of the events and the people who came before us. Our ancestors' decisions have influenced our own life.Similarly, the decisions of our own generation (一代人) will finally influence those who come after us.In this only way, the world is truly connected.
History is not just a study of the past. History is the study of people, places and events that can influence the future.
Now do you still think studying history is a sad thing? Or do you have any doubt about learning history? If you have any question, just feel free to ask.

Dear Sir/Madam,
①It is now common to go online in the home, yet a recent survey showed that ninety﹣five percent of parents do not know what websites their children visit. I strongly believe that a training project should be started to help parents to improve their Internet and computer skills so that they can better monitor and guide their children.
②One advantage of providing training is that it would get parents to pay more attention to their children's online activities. If they had a better understanding of the Internet, they would see the need to make sure that their children use it properly and responsibly.
③Another argument for providing training to parents is that it would allow parents to help their children with their schoolwork. These days, a lot of homework needs to be done on computers. If parents have poor computer skills, they will be of little or no help with homework, which can make them upset. Some people argue that it is good that students can work independently on computers. However, it is clear that students, especially young students, often need this kind of home support.
④Improving parents' Internet and computer skills might also be a good way or parents to improve their relationships with their children. These days, children spend a lot of their free time on computers. If parents want to be part of that free time, they need to see that playing on computers can be a fun family activity.Joining their children can help parents bridge the generation gap(代沟) between them and their children.
⑤I strongly believe that children need to be helped and guided to use the Internet in a proper and responsible way, and so training is extremely important.
Yours faithfully.
Pat Chan

Hopes, ambitions(抱负), dreams. How many of yours will you achieve? When you look back at your life in the future, will you have good memories of all the things that you did? Or will you regret all the things that you didn't do?
Of course, there's no easy road to success, but one thing is certain: success won't come if you don't do anything. So how do you do it? This four﹣step model will help you to make your dreams come true.
Step 1:
What would you like to do? Write down all your ambitions, They may be very general, such as I would like to be fitter. I want to be famous. or It would be nice to have more friends. Or they may be more specific, like I've always wanted to play a musical instrument.
Step 2:
Now you need to do two things:
1.Choose one or two ambitions. If you try to do everything, you won't do anything.
2.Set a time limit(限定). This is very important, because you will have a goal and you will also know when you have reached it.
So,for example,I would like to be fitter in Step 1 now becomes I will be fit enough to join a half﹣marathon race by the end of August.
Step 3:
Now that you' ve made your choice, what are you actually going to do to achieve your goal? So, in our example, I will be fit enough to join a half﹣marathon race by the end of August, becomes I'm going to join a running club. or I 'm going to go jogging three times a week.
Step 4:
This is when you change your intentions(意图) into specific actions, Prepare to do something at a specific time. If you don't do this, your dreams and plans will just stay as dreams and plans. So now I'm going to join a running club, becomes I'm meeting the president of the Cheetahs Running Club on Monday evening at 5:30.
Don't let your ambitions die. Follow this four step plan and make your dream come true.
A. Change I would like to…to I will… B. Change I did…to I do… C. How to be successful D. Change I'm going to…to I'm doing…on…at… E. Think about your ambitions F. Change I will…to I'm going to… |
Mark Twain once said,"Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today." The famous writer talked about a problem many of us have. The problem is procrastination (拖延症). When procrastination becomes a habit, it can make our lives terrible. However, everyone can avoid it by taking a few simple steps today!
✧Make daily "to do" lists.
Before your day ends, make a plan for tomorrow.List upcoming tasks in order of importance. You'll begin each new day with a head start, already knowing what needs to be done.As you complete each task, check it off.(1) .
Always keep your daily schedule(计划)with you. Use it to remind yourself what you need to do next. You'll then have a much better chance of carrying out your plans.
✧Break large tasks up into small ones.
If a project looks too big,(2) .The task at hand may seem too great. You may feel defeated (挫败) before beginning. But every project is doable if it's done in small steps.
Begin by breaking up your task into smaller parts. This helps remove the unnecessary fear of having to do a large project all at one time.
✧(3) .
If your workplace is full of distractions(使人分心的事),you'll need to make some changes. You may need to remove your phone or TV from your workplace. If people often stop by for a talk, you may need to move to a different place.
✧Follow the five﹣minute rule.
The hardest part about any task is getting started. That's why so many people avoid their work until the last minute. Doing so usually leads to added stress. One solution to this problem is to schedule a time daily to work on your big project. Work on it for only five minutes. Then decide whether or not to continue. Surprisingly, once you've begun, (4) .
A. you will certainly succeed at once B. Change your working environment C. This will give you a sense of success D. it can discourage you from getting started E. you may be able to keep going and finish the task |
On June 9th,1870, Charles Dickens died at the age of 58. The next day, a headline in The New York Times read: "Death of the Great Novelist …Will Be Remembered by the People …"
The headline was not overstating (夸大) the popularity of Dickens.Even today, the British novelist is loved by readers all over the world.Dickens created some unforgettable characters. You must have heard of or even read some of his novels: Oliver Twist, A Christmas Carol and A Tale of Two Cities. A Tale of Two Cities has sold more than 200 million copies. Since 1897, there have been more than 300 film and TV adaptations (改编版本)of Dickens' works.A Christmas Carol alone has had nearly 50.
Natalie Mcknight is a literature professor (文学教授) who studies Dickens and his works. She explains why the novelist has remained so popular. One important reason, she says,is that Dickens wrote from his heart. He tried hard to produce emotional effects (情感效果) among his readers. In his works,he paid special attention to the "little man" at the bottom of society in the UK, which deeply mirrored the social reality at that time. A Christmas Carol, for example, was written to make every reader think about how they could make a difference to their society. People always enjoy works that make them laugh, cry and think. Many other 9th﹣century novelists wrote entertaining (娱乐的) works. However, few of them worked as hard as Dickens to touch the readers deeply.
Dickens wrote about situations and emotions that still interest people today. He used his pen to fight social inequality and gave voice to the poor. His works led to many important social changes. Readers always enjoy seeing poor people rise and succeed.
This year marks the 150th year of Dickens' death. It's another chance to remember this great writer. Will you read or re﹣read some of his famous works?
