We all need a healthy environment.       , we produce waste every day and it         harm to our environment. Though we are young, we can still do    to help. In fact, even the simplest everyday activities can make a real       to the environment. Here are some ideas for you to live a     life.
Remember these three      : reduce, reuse and recycle.
Reduce means “use less”. Don't          things. This saves money and reduces pollution and waste going into the environment. Before we buy something new, think if it is really          or maybe the      one will be just as good! When we do buy things, choose local products if possible, and try not to buy too many things from a         country.
Reuse means “use again”. Use things for       possible. When we buy things, make sure that they       a long time. We should take care of them       they will last, and we should       them if we can instead of throwing them away and buying new ones. Don't use a paper cup or a paper bag. It’s better to use a china cup and a lunch box because you can use them       .
Recycle means “change things into something else”. Although it      energy to change something into something else, it’s better than        things or burning them. Find out       can be recycled in your neighborhood and take part in recycling programs. We should also buy       made from recycled materials, such as recycled paper, to help save      .

Many people believe sharks are dangerous and will always try to hurt or even kill humans.   .A shark exhibition at the National Aquarium(水族馆)in Baltimore,USA.proves this.Visitors can touch young sharks, see their eggs develop and watch a dozen different species swim smoothly around a huge tank.
Most people fail to realize that shark attacks do not happen very often.Humans are more likely to be killed by lightning than by a shark.   .There kids can learn, from an early age, not to fear sharks.
“People fear what they don’t know,”said Nancy Hotchkiss,an organizer of the exhibition.“Sharks have been around for 400 million years and play an important role in the ocean’s food chain. We want people to discover that sharks are amazing animals that need our respect and protection.”   . A study, published in January in the US magazine,Science, found that almost all recorded shark species have fallen by half in the past 8 to 15 years.
Thousands of sharks are hunted in Asia for special foods, and many others get caught in nets, while fishermen are hunting other fish.
“Some fishing methods are actually cleaning out the ocean for sharks,”said Dave Schofield, the manager of the aquarium’s ocean health program.

A.They can watch them develop inside their eggs and feel the skin of the older swimmers
B.In fact,94 percent of the world’s 400 species are harmless to humans
C.About 100 million sharks are killed every year around the world by humans.
D.It is a worrying situation but some areas have put measures in place to protect these special fish.

E.And to make this point clear, the museum has set up a special touching pool for children.
F.Sharks can smell and taste blood, and trace it back to its source
G. More than half of the sharks caught are smaller than l meter long.

Yes, it’s still 2015, but as USA Today says, “it’s never too early to plan your 2016 travels”. With so many hot destinations (目的地) around the globe, “where should I go?” can be difficult to answer. According to Lonely Planet, though, Brazil is a fine choice – on April 29, the travel guide named that country the top one to visit in 2016.
“As if endless strands of coast and mountains splashed with rainforest didn’t already add up to an unfair share of heaven (天堂), Brazil held one of the greatest sporting events in the world, the 2014 FIFA World Cup, and the 2016 Summer Olympics, another greatest one, will be followed ,” explained Lonely Planet.
Brazil is the largest and most populous country in South America. It boasts (自豪拥有) the Amazon, the world’s largest jungle (丛林), which is home to a variety of plants and animals. But the great landscape (景色) is not the only thing Brazilians take pride in.
The colors green and yellow might make most people think of Brazil’s soccer team even more than its national flag. Soccer is more than a sport in Brazil; it’s a way of life. In fact, the World Cup brings Brazilians together. It is interesting to note that the general elections (大选) in Brazil are usually held during the same year as the World Cup. Political parties try to take advantage of the patriotic enthusiasm (爱国热情) created by soccer to inspire political energy.
Alongside soccer, samba is another emblem (象征) of Brazil. The country’s most traditional dance is highlighted every February at the Rio Carnival, which is one of the world’s biggest.
“Brazil has left its second-class nation status (地位),” said former Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva in 2009 after Rio de Janeiro was awarded the 2016 Olympics.
Brazil’s growing economy, fueled (刺激) by oil and aircraft factories, has made it more than just a nation of samba, soccer and beaches. These days, it might just be the best tourist destination in the world.
Which of the following aspects are mentioned about Brazil in the article?
a. militaryb. Economy     c. language and culture    d. geography and population

B.It will hold the FIFA World Cup and the Summer Olympics in 2014.
C.Soccer and samba are two symbols of the country.

The author’s purpose in writing the article is to ______.

A.explain why Brazil will be holding the two sporting events
B.give an introduction of Brazil as a tourist destination
C.give an objective review of Brazil as a nation
D.prove that Lonely Planet’s recommendation is right

Are some people born clever, and others born stupid? Or is intelligence developed by our environment and our experiences? Strangely enough, the answer to both these questions is yes.To some degree our intelligence is given to us at birth, and no amount of special education can make a genius out of a child born with low intelligence. On the other hand, a child who lives in a boring environment will develop his intelligence less than one who lives in rich and varied surroundings. Thus the limits of a person's intelligence are fixed at birth, but whether or not he reaches those limits will depend on his environment. This view, now held by most experts, can be supported in a number of ways.
It is easy to show that intelligence is to some degree something we are born with. The closer the blood relationship between two people, the closer they are likely to be in intelligence. Thus if we take two unrelated people at random(随机地)from the population, it is likely that their degrees of intelligence will be completely different. If on the other hand we take two identical(完全相同的) twins they will very likely be as intelligent as each other.Relations like brothers and sisters, parents and children, usually have similar intelligence, and this clearly suggests that intelligence depends on birth.
Imagine now that we take two identical twins and put them in different environments. We might send one, for example, to a university and the other to a factory where the work is boring. We would soon find differences in intelligence developing, and this indicates that environment as well as birth plays a part. This conclusion is also suggested by the fact that people who live in close contact with each other, but who are not related at all, are likely to have similar degrees of intelligence.
Which of these sentences best describes the writer’s point in Para.1?

A.To some degree, intelligence is given at birth.
B.Intelligence is developed by the environment.
C.Some people are born clever and others born stupid.
D.Intelligence is fixed at birth, but is developed by the environment.

It is suggested in this passage that_______.

A.unrelated people are not likely to have similar intelligence
B.close relations usually have similar intelligence
C.the closer the blood relationship between people, the more different they are likely to be in intelligence
D.people who live in close contact with each other are not likely to have similar degrees of intelligence

In Para.1, the word "surroundings" means_______.

A.intelligence B.life
C.environments D.housing

Australia’s koalas could be wiped out within 30 years unless urgent action is taken to stop the losing in population, according to researchers. They say development, climate change and bushfires have all combined to reduce the number of wild koalas sharply.
The Australian Koala Foundation said a recent survey showed the population could have dropped by more than half in the past six years. Previous estimates put the number of koalas at more than 100,000, but the latest calculations suggest there could now be as few as 43,000.
The foundation collected field data from 1,800 sites and 80,000 trees to calculate the numbers. In one area in northern Queensland estimated to have 20,000 koalas a decade ago, a team of eight people could not find a single animal in four days of searching.
The foundation said besides problems caused by cutting down forests, hotter and drier conditions because of global warming had reduced the nutritional value of their staple food, eucalyptus leaves, leading to poor nutrition for them.
Koalas, which live in the forests in Australia’s east and south, are very fussy (爱挑剔的) about what types of the leaves they eat.
Foundation chief Deborah Tabart said: “The koalas are missing everywhere we look. It’s really no tree, no me. If you keep cutting down trees you don’t have any koalas.”
She is hoping the new figures will persuade the government’s Threatened Species Steering Committee (TSSC) to list the koala as threatened. But committee chairman Bob Beeton said a decision was not likely recently and the koala’s status as one of the country’s favourite animals would not be a factor. “There’s a number of species which are attractive and people have special feelings towards them. We don’t consider that,” Mr Beeton was reported as saying by the AFP agency.
The writer gives the example of the area in northern Queensland in Paragraph 3 to show that _____.

A.the forests are being damaged heavily
B.the environment is being polluted seriously
C.koalas usually live in wild mountainous areas
D.the number of koalas is dropping quickly

Global warming is an important cause of koalas’ reduction because _____.

A.koalas can hardly stand the hot weather
B.the leaves koalas eat are losing nutritional value
C.koalas cannot get enough water to drink
D.the leaves koalas eat cannot grow in hot weather

According to Bob Beeton, _____.

A.koalas are his favourite animals
B.a decision will be made to protect koalas
C.they needn’t pay special attention to koalas
D.koalas needn’t be protected at all
