Time flies. My summer vacation ended in the blink of an eye, but one thing is still on my mind. From July 25 to 27, I worked as a volunteer at the Wolong China Giant Panda Garden in Sichuan. I experienced the life of being a panda keeper.

My work included cleaning the pandas' home, feeding the pandas and making food for them. The panda I took care of was named Jingke. When I went to feed him, he would stretch(伸出) one of his forefeet out on a shelf that hung on the fence and wait for his food. He would quickly grab the food as soon as I brought it to him. Can you guess what would happened next? Jingke would lie down and begin to eat. I could hear him crunching(嘎吱作响地咀嚼) on his food and see him twisting his body around like a dancer. It was really cute. This was one of the most interesting things I saw when I worked there.

When I fed Jingke, I touched his fur(毛). Most people think that panda's fur would be soft. But actually, panda's fur is very hard. I felt like I was touching needles.I looked at his teeth, too﹣ they were sharp and big. No wonder the panda keepers told us that pandas are not only cute, but also dangerous.

What's a spacewalk? Any time an astronaut gets out of a spacecraft(航天器) while in space, it is called a spacewalk. Astronauts go on spacewalks for many reasons. For example, experiments can be placed on the outside of a spacecraft. This lets scientists learn how being in space affects( 影响) different things. By going on spacewalks, astronauts can also fix things instead of bringing them back to the earth to fix.

When astronauts go on spacewalks, they wear spacesuits to keep themselves safe. Inside spacesuits, astronauts have the oxygen(氧气) they need to breathe and the water they need to drink. To keep the astronauts and the spacecraft safe, the astronauts must leave and go back to the spacecraft through a special door. When on a spacewalk, astronauts use safety tethers to stay close to their spacecraft. Tethers are like ropes, connect the spacewalkers with the spacecraft. They keep astronauts from floating( 漂 浮 ) away into space. Another way astronauts stay safe during spacewalks is by wearing a SAFER. SAFER is worn like a backpack. It helps an astronaut move around in space.

How do astronauts train for spacewalks? One way is by going for a swim. Floating in space is a lot like floating in water. Astronauts practice spacewalks underwater in a huge special swimming pool. For every one hour they will spend on a spacewalk, astronauts need to train seven hours in the pool. Another way astronauts practice for a spacewalk is by using virtual reality(虚拟现实). It looks and feels just like a spacewalk.

Today, only three countries have finished spacewalks independently. They are Russia, the United States and China. The first person to go on a spacewalk in the world was Alexei Leonov from Russia. DNA is the whole"map" of the human body.It is something that all humans have, and it tells the body what to do.DNA is the reason that we look like our parents, because we get some of their DNA to make our own.

People have been trying to understand the human body for a long time.In 1860,Mr Mendel discovered why we look similar to other people in our family. It is because of small things called "genes(基因)"in our body.In 1953,two scientists,Watson and Crick, found out that those small parts are real messages. They are written in the DNA with a special language.

We spent holidays with our uncle. He loved to go on walks to collect stones. One day,he bought us backpacks(背包) and asked us to go to the mountain with him and carry the stones.

The whole day we walked around.Every now and then he put stones in our bags.To our surprise,he also took some stones out from our bags. But we thought he had just found better stones.

When we returned to the house,we were very tired. The backpacks were so heavy that we felt relaxed when we put them down. But uncle's backpack was half empty.

"Why did you put so many stones into our backpacks?"we asked.

"I didn't.You did."He said."You didn't know it,but I gave you a test today.I listened to every word you said.Whenever you were complaining(抱怨),I added a stone to your bags.Whenever you talked about something with positive(积极的) thinking,I took out a stone. And now look at your backpacks."Our backpacks were full of stones.
