Flamenco is very popular in southern Spain. It begins with guitar music and clapping(击掌)and then dancers join the performance.Sometimes a woman dances alone and sometimes she dances with a man.The woman always wears a long, colorful dress. She moves her arms and hands slowly but her feet move in fast difficult steps. The man often wears black. Both dancers click their shoes on the floor when they dance around each other.
Cossack dances are from Russia and Ukraine. They are very energetic — some are more like gymnastics than dancing!Dancers have to be very fit because they jump very high and kick their legs up and down. They often jump over swords(剑).The movements are similar to traditional Cossack activities, for example, sword fighting and getting on and off horses.
Limbo dancing is first from West Africa but today it is an important part of celebrations in the Caribbean.Young people have to dance under a pole(杆).The pole is often on fire and the dancer mustn't touch it!After a successful "limbo",they put the pole lower and do it again. Some dancers can dance under a pole just twenty centimeters off the ground!
Mask(面具)dances are important for the Dogon people in Mali. Each village makes different masks. They are often huge and colorful. There are masks of people, monsters or local animals like crocodiles and monkeys.Mask dancers are always men and they dance to the sound of drums for hours after the death of a person in the village.Today,Dogon villagers also perform the dances for tourists.

Have you ever wondered how a book is made?It takes a lot of people to make a book.It can take months,or even years, for a book to go from an idea to a finished product.
A book begins when an author comes up with an idea for a book.Authors get ideas in different ways. They may get ideas from their own lives, from watching the world around them,or from reading.
Next,an author may plan the book by making an outline (提纲).Sometimes authors do research to gather information. They may read books or articles. They may interview people or visit places.
Then, the author begins to write.Authors may write for months or years to finish a manuscript.A manuscript is the text an author produces for publication.
Finally, the author sends the completed manuscript to a publisher. If the publisher decides to publish the book, the author works with an editor. An editor reads the manuscript. Then he or she recommends changes to improve the book.A copy editor reads the manuscript to correct any grammatical mistake.
After an author makes the suggested changes,a designer may decide how the book will look. The designer may choose the size, shape, and type styles for the book. Some picture book authors create their own illustrations(插图).If not,an illustrator is chosen to create pictures for the book.
The illustrator makes sketches of pictures that will go on each page. The sketches are sent to the publishing company. The editor makes sure the pictures clearly tell the story. The designer checks how the words and pictures will fit together on the pages.
After the design changes are made, the illustrator begins creating the final pictures. He or she may change the colours, the perspective,or the composition of pictures. It may take months to create all the pictures.
The finished art is then sent to the publisher. The designer adjusts(调整) how the pictures and words fit together on the pages. The completed pages are sent to the printer. Many books are still made into books with paper pages.
The printer uses huge printing presses to make the pages. The pages are fixed together. The book cover is added. The finished books are then sent to the publisher's warehouse. They are stored there until they are bought by libraries and bookstores.
E﹣readers have changed how some books are made. Some authors do not use a publisher at all.Instead of sending a manuscript to a publisher, some authors turn their manuscripts into e﹣Books themselves. Finally,an author's eBook is uploaded(上传) to virtual bookstores on the Internet.Customers can buy and download e﹣Books from these websites.

The journey to and from school is a major reason for stress throughout the world. And the journey can even make you sick.Yet one city has found a way to make its train journeys more comfortable while offering enjoyable reading at the same time, just like in a library.
On two train lines in Beijing, the underground cars(车厢)have been turned into libraries, but they're not traditional libraries.Instead of real copies of books, the underground cars provide e﹣books.
When passengers get into the cars, they can see pictures of different book covers on the walls and even doors.Passengers can browse(浏览)the books just like in any other library.Once they've made their choice, they can use a mobile phone to scan the QR code(扫二维码)on the cover of their chosen book. The QR code leads to an e﹣book app,on which the passengers can read the e﹣book for free. And they can still enjoy the book on the app even after leaving the train.
Thanks to the underground's idea, passengers can discover new stories every time they take a ride.In this way,the journey will not be boring any longer, and passengers will not complain about the journey either.Instead, they can benefit(受益)a lot from it.

Say you're sitting around with some friends playing video games and someone mentions a game that happens to be one of your favorites."Oh,that game's easy.So not worth the time,"one of your friends says. The others agree.Although you enjoy the game quite a lot,not wanting to argue with them, you go along with the crowd.
You have just experienced what is commonly referred to as peer pressure(同伴压力),also called peer
influence. You will adopt a certain type of behavior, dress,or attitude in order to be accepted as part of a group of your"peers".As a teen, you are likely to have experienced the effect of peer pressure in a number of different areas.
We are all influenced by our peers at any age.For teens,as school and other activities take you away
from home, you may spend more time with your friends than with your family. As you become more
independent, your peers naturally play a greater role in your life.
According to Dr.Casey from Cornell University, teens are very quick and accurate in making decisions
on their own and in situations where they have time to think. However, when they make decisions in the
heat of the momentor in social situations, their decisions are often influenced by factors like peers. In a
recent study, teen volunteers played a video driving game, either alone or with friends watching. The
researchers discovered that the number of risks teens took more than doubled when their friends were
watching, compared with when they played alone. This shows that teens may find it more difficult to control risky behavior when their friends are around,or in situations where they are extremely angry.
Just as people can influence us to make unwise choices, they can also influence us to make good ones.A teen might join in a volunteer project because his or her friends are doing it,or get good grades because his or her friends think getting good grades is important. In fact, friends often encourage each other to study,or try out for sports.
While we are always influenced by those around us,the decision to act or not is up to us.So when it
comes to decision making, the choice is up to you.
52.According to the passage,Dr.Casey probably agrees that teens .

Sometimes it seems that time is flying. Perhaps it doesn't need to feel this way. Our experience of time can be possibly changed. By understanding the psychological (心理学的) processes behind our different experiences of time, we might be able to slow down time a little.
One basic law of psychological time is that time seems to slow down when we're exposed(接触) to new environments and experiences. The law is caused by the relationship between our experience of time and the amount of information our minds process. The more information our minds take in, the slower time seems to pass.
It follows, then, that we have different experiences of time in different situations. In some situations, our life is full of new experiences. Our minds process a lot of information and time seems to slow down. In other situations, we have fewer new experiences and the world around us becomes more and more familiar(熟悉的). We become insensitive to our experience, which means we process less information, and time seems to speed up.
How can we slow down time? Here are two suggestions.
Firstly, since we know that familiarity makes time pass faster, we can expose ourselves to as many new experiences as possible. We can give ourselves new challenges, meet new people, and expose our minds to new information, hobbies and skills. This will increase the amount of information our minds process and expand (增加) our experience of time.
Secondly, and perhaps most effectively, we can give our whole attention to an experience﹣to what we are seeing, feeling, tasting, smelling or hearing. This means living through our senses rather than through our thoughts. For example, on the way home, focus your attention outside of yourself, instead of thinking about the problems you have to deal with. Look at the sky, or at the buildings you pass, traveling among them. This open attitude to your experiences helps take in more information and also has a time﹣expanding effect.
To a certain degree, we can understand and control our experience of time passing. It's possible for us to slow down time by expanding our experience of time.
(1)According to the writer, we can expand our experience of time by .
A. going to bed on time
B. traveling to new places
C. having dinner as usual
D. printing the same materials
(2)What can we learn from the passage?
A. Being familiar with the world around helps us get more information.
B. Understanding psychological time makes life pass more quickly.
C. We can take in more information by living through our senses.
D. We should build a stronger relationship between time and us.
(3)Which of the following would be the best title for the passage?
A. Slow Down Time
B. Only Time Will Tell
C. Race Against Time
D. Time Will Not Come Twice

Do you remember when we went to pick up Hally from her litter? We picked her because she looked like her mom.She is brown with spots, with long ears, and she was energetic,so we thought she'd be strong, like her mom.But how does she look now?" Mom asked.
"Well," thought Sam, "She' s still brown with spots and long ears, but she' s not very energetic or strong anymore. "
"That's what the vet said, too. We haven't been letting her exercise as much, and we've been feeding her a lot.She would probably look just like her mom now if we had walked her more. ② We have to start walking her more often. And then she'll stay healthy for a long time. Will you help?"
"Sure!" said Sam.He decided that he could play fetch with her every day in the yard, because then she could run and run and run until she was tired.
The first day, they only played fetch for about 10 minutes before Hally was tired. But Sam kept playing with her every day.Soon, they could play for an entire half an hour!Hally looked stronger every day, just like her mom.Sam felt great about helping Hally get strong again.
