These days,we have a better chance of slopping these unpleasant surprises. We can do this by using apps.An app is a computer program on a smartphone. You cam use apps to do almost anything.App can help you play games, get directions, talk to friends, and so on.
If you want to find information about a store or a hotel, you cam use a review app.Review apps help us evaluate(评价)service and products before we hand over our money. The idea is very simple. After you go to a restaurant or stay in a hotel, you can post a review with one of your apps. You can say anything you want.If you like a hotel that you stayed in,you can tell people that it was wonderful. If you think that the food in a certain restaurant was bad, then you can tell people not to eat there.Other people can use their app to read your reviews.
Plenty of people prefer not to use these review apps. Many of these people think that it's a waste of time to look through websites and read reviews. These people prefer to go out and decide for themselves whether or not a service is good. However, review apps are getting more and more popular every day. Some apps are for exact services. For example, trip adviser gives attention to travel, and good reader pays attention to books. There are also other larger apps that provide information for just about every service that you can think of.

I remember when I was growing up, my mom always said, "Half the fun of doing anything is sharing it with others." It's so true. Friends allow us to enjoy the taste of our success and our joys and comfort us in our challenging moments. They provide a mirror for us to learn more about ourselves. I have always looked at friends as the family members. They enrich our lives. As Robert Louis Steven once said, "A ① friend is a present which you give yourself."
To be a good friend, ② 成为一个年的听众是很重要的.Hear what your friend says first rather than making conclusions (结论) quickly. Sometimes it is useful to repeat their words back to them, it can help them to realize whether their words were what they wanted to say.
Patience is also important in being a good friend. You know the old golden rule. "Care for others in the way you would like them to care for you." The support of a friend during a difficult time could make a difference between success and failure. ③ Encouragement is the best gift that can change a person's life .
We should choose our friends carefully, because they can have a huge influence in our life. As someone told me "Your friends are like the button (按钮) on a lift. ④ Sometimes they will take you up , sometimes they will take you down ."

The natural world is colorful with humans, plants and animals showing different colors.
Human skin can be many different colors and it changes.with the sun,our feelings or our health for example. This is because of pigments(色素),which reflect light and make what the eye sees as colors. So,when we feel excited or angry, our heart can send more blood to the face and the pigments in the skin become red. This is why we have the expression that someone. "sees red"when they are angry.
Plants also have pigments.Color is important for them to live on.The bright colors of flowers catch the attention of insects(昆虫),which then carry their pollen(花粉)from one flower to another.Bees can see colors we cannot, and they follow these to the inside of the flower.Without bees visiting flowers in this way, many plants would die out.
Animals also use color for their own need. They protect themselves with different colors so as not to be seen by predators. The snowshoe hare for example,a type of wild rabbit, changes color with seasons for this reason.During summer it is a brown color, and in winter it is white so that it can hide in the snow. However, some animals use color as a warning to make predators stay away.Bright colors such as yellow and red are often used in this way.Nature, however,is very clever, and predators also use colors to attract(吸引)the animals they feed on..
So,we can see that there may be many different reasons and uses for colors in the natural world. Some uses of color in nature remain unknown;but one thing is for sure, color not only makes our planet beautiful but it is also necessary for our planet to live on.

"Why not,my son?"
"Because it is so difficult, father.I am sure that I shall never learn it.Besides,I could not remember it after I had learned it,my memory is so bad."
"If I were to promise you a holiday on the thirtieth of the month after next,do you think you would forget the date?"
"No,I am pretty sure that I should not."
"You are first﹣rate at skating, and flying a kite, and playing at ball and marbles, are you not?"
"Yes,father."
"And yet you cannot learn your lesson! My dear boy,you are deceiving(欺骗) yourself. You can learn as well as anyone,if you will only try."
"But have I not tried, father?" again urged George.
"Well, try again.Come, for this afternoon lay aside that kite you are making, and give another effort to get your lesson ready.Be in earnest, and you will soon learn it.To show you that it only requires perseverance, I will tell you a story:
"One of the dullest boys at a village school, more than thirty years ago, went up to repeat his lesson one morning;and,as usual, did not know it. ‘Go to your seat!' said the teacher angrily.
‘If you don't pay more attention to your lessons, you will never be fit for anything.'
The poor boy stole off to his seat, and bent his eyes again upon his lesson.
‘It is of no use;I cannot learn.' he said in a whisper to a companion who sat near him.
‘You must try hard,'replied the kind﹣hearted boy.
‘I have tried, but it is of no use;I may just as well give up at once.'
‘Try again,Henry!' Whispered his companion,in an earnest and encouraging tone.
These two little words gave him a fresh impulse, and he bent his mind again to his task.
Gradually he began to find the sentences lingering in his memory;and soon,to his surprise and pleasure, the whole lesson was mastered!
"From that day," continued Mr.Prentice,"there was no boy in the school who learned more rapidly than Henry. From that day till the present hour he has been a student;and he now urges his son George to ‘try again' as he tried. "
"And was it indeed you, father?" asked his son, eagerly looking up into the face of his kind parent.
"Yes,my child. That dull boy was your own father in his early years."
"Then I will try again." said George,in a decided tone;and, flinging aside his half﹣made kite,he turned and re﹣entered the house, and was soon bending in earnest attention over his lesson.

"Did you find it hard work?"
"Not so very hard, after I had once made up my mind that I would learn it.Indeed I never stopped to think,as I usually do,but went right on until I had mastered every sentence."

Have you ever imagined what life will be like in 2060?An international group of forty scientists have made some surprising predictions. They said that in the next forty years, our lives would change beyond our wildest dreams.
Firstly, humans can grow body parts themselves.Dr.Ellen Heber﹣Katz is one of the forty scientists. He says, "People will think it common that sick organs (器官) can be repaired. It's just like the way we fix a car." Damaged parts will be taken away.Scientists could use human cells (细胞) to grow new organs.New technologies like this will also help people to live longer.Within forty years, most people will be able to live up to one hundred years.
Secondly, the scientists have predicted that a machine will be invented to "read" the minds of animals. In 2060,we will be able to "talk" to animals.Scientists say that humans may first "talk" with mammals (哺乳动物) and then other vertebrates (脊椎动物) such as fish.
Our houses might also change beyond our imagination.Dr.Susan Greenfield predicts that when you enter the living room, sensors (传感器) will know you. They will turn on the lights. If you talk to the lights, they will change to the color of your choice.
But what would be the biggest breakthrough (突破) over the next forty years?A number of scientists believe it would be the discovery of aliens.NASA scientist Chris Mckay says, "We may find aliens in space and talk with them." He believes marks of alien life may even be found here on Earth.

Historically, most cars have run on gasoline(汽油),but that may change in the future:cars can also run on other liquid fuels(液体燃料)and electricity.
Gasoline is from oil.The energy in gasoline comes from hydrocarbons(碳氢化合物).Gasoline provides great power for cars. However,it causes environmental problems, like air pollution and temperature rise.So gasoline can't be the best fuel.
Another choice is electricity.Electricity cars can be as efficient(效能好的)as cars using gasoline,And they produce less pollution. But electric cars themselves are more expensive.Good news is that the cost has been lower and there are more and more places for the cars to get electricity ever since 2010.
The other choices are other liquid fuels. Many of these can be stored in the same places as gasoline, and used in the same cars. They can also be friendly to the environment.
One way to make such fuels is to get CO 2from the air and put it in water.Through chemical reaction, hydrocarbons can be created. However, these fuels take up more space.
Another way is to make such fuels from plants which take in carbon from the air. These fuels are greener in use.But not all of them can be as efficient as gasoline.
For a fuel to be the best, people have to be able to afford it.Unluckily, almost every green technology is more expensive than that of using gasoline.Governments and car producers are doing everything they car to cut down the costs. In the end,the best fuel will be both affordable for car users and green for our planet.

The Youth Climate Summit(气候峰会) a week﹣long festival of climate action for primary and middle schools in the UK,starts on 9 November. It aims to create a fairer, more environmental world and make promises that will help the planet.Climate change is the long﹣term changes in the world's weather patterns that are mostly caused by human activity. "Unlike world leaders, "say the summit's organizers. "young people are refusing to let it drop off the plan. "
Each day has a topic, which includes food and fashion, looking at how humans harm the environment and how to save the planet.Organizations are leading some on line activities. For example, the Marine Conservation Society is hosting meetings on protecting sea fish.Separately, the environmental organization Greenpeace is running a workshop on how to turn worn﹣out clothing into something new and wearable.
The summit will finish on 13 November, when youth ambassadors(大使)wants schools to stop paper waste.Max,another 16﹣year﹣old ambassador wants schools to organize more trips and activities that get students outside to experience the beauty of nature. As part of the summit, hundreds of schools across the country are signing up to the Let's Go Zero activity, aiming to become carbon﹣zero(零碳的)by 2030.
Carbon﹣zero schools are ones that promise to stop emitting carbon in seven areas, including where they get their food and how they use water and recycle their waste. The activity is run by Ashden,a charity working towards climate solutions.Ashden hopes that schools will be able to help each other by sharing ideas and methods. It is also calling on the Government to back the promise.Head over to transform﹣our﹣world.org where you can find out more.

The first emperor of China,Qin Shihuang, completed a huge number of projects during his rule.Between 221 and 210 B.C.,he started the building of the Great Wall. The emperor also ordered the building of a huge army of life﹣sized terracotta soldiers(士兵).These,he hoped, would protect his tomb after his death.
Lost in Time
The soldiers in Xi'an's terracotta museum are today light brown, but they weren't always. They began as an army of red, blue, yellow, green, white, and purple.Sadly, most of the colors did not last to the present day. After being exposed(暴露)to air during digging, the coating under the paint began to fall off.The paint disappeared in less time than it takes to boil an egg, taking away with it important pieces of history.
New Technology
Now new technology is starting to show the army's true colors.Archeologists(考古学家)have recently discovered an area with more than a hundred soldiers. Many of these still have their painted features, including black hair, pink faces, and black or brown eyes.Chinese and German researchers have developed a chemical liquid(液体)to help save the soldiers' colors. After finding a soldier or another art piece, archeologists put the liquid on it. They then cover it in plastic.
Back to Life
Archeologists are also finding colors in the dirt around the soldiers. It's important not to do anything with the dirt,so the colors won't be lost. "We are treating the dirt as an art piece, "says Rong Bo,the museum's leading archeologist. The next challenge, says Rong Bo,is to find a way to use the colors onto the army﹣again.Once that happens, artists can bring Emperor Qin's army back to its full, bright colors.

Zhu Keming never thought he would be a hero one day,but he was just that on Saturday when he saved the lives of six runners during the mountain marathon (马拉松)in Baiyin,Gansu Province,in which 21 people lost their lives.
It started off as a normal day for the 49﹣year﹣old shepherd ,who was taking care of his more than 30 sheep on the mountainside. But soon the weather was terrible, with rainfall and hail. The rain got so heavy that he couldn't see clearly and had to run into a cave where he normally went to have a rest.Soon he fell asleep in the cave after covering himself with some quilts he had stored there.
But he was awakened at 2 pm by an unusual sound that was not coming from his sheep. The sound that woke Zhu was the cry of a runner in the marathon. He was wet from head to toe and trembling because of cold.Zhu took him into the cave, lit a fire and covered the stricken (受伤的)runner with his quilts.
Zhu said that there were soon five runners huddling (挤作一团)in the cave, and he then decided to go outside to try to attract the attention of rescuers (救援者).When he risked coming out of the cave,he found another stricken runner lying on the ground in bad condition. Then the other runners came out of the cave to give a hand.Zhu and the six runners remained huddled around the fire in his cave until 7 pm,when the rescue team arrived.
" I just did what I had to when I saw that these people were in danger.I think everyone would do the same thing in such a situation, "Zhu said to Beijing News.
Luo Chongchuan, the village head of Changsheng, where Zhu and his family live, said that the shepherd is a warm﹣hearted person who often helps his villagers.
