Do you enjoy hitting the books? It doesn't mean you enjoy beating your books with your hand. That may be reasonable if you don't understand something inside your books. Hitting the books just means that you are studying hard. You can learn a lot when you hit the books. (1)Especially before exams, most students spend a lot of time hitting the books to get good grades.
This is just one example of expressions that can't be understood by taking them apart(分开)word by word. Expressions like this are called idioms(习语). They are an important part of a culture's language. Languages and cultures are closely connected. One example of an idiom in the Chinese language is "dui niu tan qin", or "to play the lute(拨弦乐器)to a cow."
Let's get back to idioms that begin with the word "hit". (3)There are many of them in English, but it's not that easy for you to understand.
One common idiom you may hear in English is "hit the road". It means to leave or to go. You can say, "Hey, I need to hit the road. Can we talk about this another time?" Or simply, "It's time to hit the road." When you are tired and you want to go to bed, you can say, "I need to hit the hay(干草)." It means you want to go to sleep.(4)That's because a bed was often a big bag with hay inside in the past.
Let's hit the road to learn some and try to use them.

People have been trying to find out if homework is good or bad for school children, and they have different opinions.
(1)Some people think that homework is an important part of learning for students. They believe it not only enables children to practice what they have learned in class, but also helps improve their handwriting. They also say that homework helps teach children how to work on their own. (2)Also,it's a skill which is useful to them in future life.
Others disagree, though. And the time spent on homework could have been used to do other activities like reading and playing sports. To back up their opinion, they give the example of Finland(芬兰). But the country remains one of the most educationally successful countries in the world.
Here is my point of view(观点) on this matter. (5)Whether the homework is good or bad depends on the purpose of it. If there is no clear reason for giving homework, the students won't get anything from doing it, so it should not be set. However, I still believe that homework can really help with children's learning, if teachers clearly tell them why they should do the homework and let them know how they have done in their homework.

Looking back at these past 3 years, I still remember many things in junior high school. We have joined all kinds of school clubs, such as acting club, music club and sport club. We have done lots of exciting things in the clubs. As a member of the acting club, (1)I have learned a lot from these activities. But the one touching me most was the acting competition which I took part in last year.
That was a special competition between Group I and ours. It was about a Chinese traditional story and a western country story.
I got a chance to act the main character, Our play (剧本) was about a village girl called Mulan,(2)She dressed up like a boy and took her father's place to fight in the army. The play showed her love for her family, friends and country. Another boy from Group I played the emperor in The Emperor s New Clothes. Especially in the last scene, the emperor walked through the city without any clothes. Everyone said his new clothes were beautiful. But the young boy told the truth.
All the students watched the excellent performance given by the two groups. They were so excited that
they didn't leave until they took photos with all the performers. I did a good job at the play show.
(5)It′s difficult not to cry when we miss the wonderful days of our school life, I will set out on my new Journey, but I won't forget my old days.
(1)I have learned a lot from these activities.
(2)She dressed up like a boy and took her father's place to fight in the army.

A Spring Morning
This spring morning in bed I'm lying.
Not to awake till the birds are crying.
(1)After one night of wind and showers .
How many are the fallen flowers?
It's simple and catchy(朗朗上口的). (3)The poem writer doesn't directly say how much he loves spring. Instead, he writes about the details(细节) of the season, the birds, wind, rain showers and fallen flowers. His descriptions of these things show us the cheerfulness he feels during springtime.
(4)Chinese poem writers often write about the beauty of spring, such as the bright colors and fragrances(芬芳) of flowers. But the writer chose to write about the sounds of spring. (5)他清晨听到鸟儿们鸣唱. and remembered the sound of the wind and rain in the night. Writing about these sounds allows readers to picture spring using their own imagination.

Mrs. Luo is a teacher from Shaoyang. She asked her students to hand in their homework through a QR code(二维码). "(1)When students finish the homework, they keep it on Wechat. So I can check their homework everywhere using my computer or mobile phone." said Luo.
"We are living in the information age. Many students like to work with computers, which makes learning more fun." said Tingting, a student of Luo's.
"The paper is not easy to keep, but the code is easy to keep and share," Luo said, "It is worth trying to use new technology in education. Education itself is a kind of creation.(3)I don't want my students to fall behind the times."
They are afraid that their children will spend too much time on computers and less time communicating with teachers. But in fact, it is unnecessary. Students still need to look up information in books and write it down when they do their homework. They only use the code when they hand in their work, which doesn't take them too much time. (5)As for teachers,it allows them to check the students' work at any time. And it is also an easy way to share homework with other students.

Tolerance will make everyone get on better with each other. Getting to know someone may help you understand why he does things differently. Something different does not exactly mean that it is bad. Tolerance teaches us to keep a temperate and open mind.
You need to remember an old saying, (3)"Treat others how you want to be treated." If you tolerate something, it does not mean that you have to like it. Tolerance just means that you should respect the differences in others and not try to make them change.
It is important to practice tolerance, because it will make everyone's life easier. The world is very different, and practicing tolerance in your own school and city can help make a difference.
