On the first day of school,Socrates(苏格拉底) told his students, "Today,we'll only learn one thing. That is to swing(甩动) your (1) forward and backward."
He showed them and (2) a result all the students laughed. "Sir,is it also learned?" one of the students laughed." Of course! You think this is a simple thing, but it (3) easy in fact." Socrates replied (4) .Hearing this, the students laughed even harder.
Without being a little angry,Socrates said, "In this class I'll teach you how to learn this action well. After that, start today, (5) you will do it 100 times a day."
At first, the students all swung their arms and said to (6) , "How easy and funny it is!" Ten days later,Socrates asked, "Who still sticks to swinging his arm?" About 80% of the students (7) their hands.Twenty days later,Socrates asked, "Who still keeps on swinging his arm?"About 50% of them put up their hands while the other students(8) silent.Three months later,Socrates asked again. This time,(9) raised his hand except one student. He was Plato(柏拉图).
Perseverance(坚持不懈) is the simplest yet most difficult thing in the world, because everyone can do it,but not everyone will do.Plato was very (10) just because of his perseverance.Only the one who can hold on a simple thing may make it.

Something that I learnt from both my parents was the importance of having respect(尊重)for other people.I remember one day when we were travelling on a bus and
(1) sat down while other people were standing. My mother shouted at me, "

Although my upbringing(养育)was perhaps a bit(12) compared with modern children,I'm very thankful to my parents for giving me a clear(13) in life.Even though I was sometimes(14) ,I think it has made me a better person. In my view, children need clear rules, but more than that they need to learn how to get on with(15) people and realize they are not the center of the world.

"Hurry and help me, "said Michael as soon as he(8) me.
At first I thought he was stealing valentines from Michael Rogers's box. However, the more I watched, the more puzzled I became. He was putting valentines(9) .
Seeing my expressions,he told me that he found Michael Rogers's box was

I suddenly realized I had also(12) to prepare a valentine for Michael Rogers.
"But everyone made one for me," Michael continued, "So I'm giving him my(13) .Since we've got the same name - Michael."
I stood there, not quite believing(14) I was hearing. "Is Michael Peterson the one who always pulled pranks on us?" I asked myself.Maybe he was kind of(15) in a hidden sort of way.
