It was  39  to hang around with people when you were the only one without wheels. He thought about what he could do. There was no  40  to ask his parents, for he knew they had no money to  41 . There was only one way to get money, and that was to  42  it. He would have to find a job.  43  who would hire him and what could he do? He decided to ask Mr Clay for advice, who usually had _44  in most things. "Well, you can start right here," said Mr Clay. "My windows need cleaning and my car needs washing." That was the  45  of James’s odd-job (零工) business. For three months he worked every day after finishing his homework. He was surprised by the  46   jobs that people found for him to do. He took dogs and babies for walks, cleared out cupboards, and mended books. He lost count of the  47  of cars he washed and windows he cleaned, but the  48  increased and he knew that he would soon have  49  for the bicycle he was dying for. The day  50  came when James counted his money and found $94.32. He  51  no time and went down to the shop to pick up the bicycle he wanted. He rode  52  home, looking forward to showing his new bicycle to his friends. It had been hard  53   for the money, but James knew that he valued his bicycle far more  54  he had bought it with his own money. He had  55  what he thought was impossible, and that was worth even more than the bicycle.

It was a cold winter. The day my husband fell to his death, it started to snow, just  31  any November day. His   32  , when I found it, was lightly covered with snow. It snowed almost every day for the next four months, while I sat on the couch and watched it   33  . One morning, I walked slowly   34   and was surprised to see a snow remover clearing my driveway and the bent back of a woman clearing my walk. I dropped to my knees and crawled back upstairs,  35  those good people would not see me. I was   36  . My first thought was, how would I ever  37  them? I didn’t have the  38  to brush my hair,   39  clear someone’s walk.
Before Jon’s death, I felt proud that I   40  asked for favors. I identified myself by my competence and  41  . So who was I if I was no longer capable? How could I   42  myself if I just sat on the couch every day and watched the snow fall?
Learning to receive the love and   43  from others wasn’t easy. Friends cooked for me and I cried. Finally, my friend Kathy said, “Mary, cooking for you isn’t a   44  for me; it makes me feel good to be able to do something for you.”
Over and over, I heard   45  words from the people who supported me during those  46  days. One wise man told me, “You aren’t doing nothing because being fully open to your  47  may be the hardest work you will ever do.”
I am not the person I   48  was, but in many ways I have changed for the   49  . I’ve been surprised to learn that there is incredible freedom coming form  50  one’s worst fear and walking away whole. I believe there is strength, for sure, in accepting a dark period of our life.

A man found a cocoon of a moth. He took it home so that he could    31   the moth come out of the cocoon. On that day a small    32   appeared, he sat and watched the moth for several hours as the moth struggled to    33   the body through that little hole.
Soon it seemed to stop making any progress. It appeared as if it had    34  as far as it could and it could go no farther. It just seemed to be stuck. So the man, out of his kindness, decided to help the moth. He took a pair of scissors and cut off the    35   bit of the cocoon. The    36   then came out easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriven(无用的) wings. The man continued to watch the moth because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and    37   to be able to support the    38  , which would get smaller in time. Neither happened! In fact, the little moth spent the rest of its life    39   around with a small, swollen body and shriveled wings. It was    40   able to fly.
What the man in his kindness    41    was that the small cocoon and the    42   of the moth to get through the    43   opening was a way to push fluid(液体)   44   the body of moth  45   its wings so that it would be ready to fly    46   it got out of the cocoon. We ask the other person to help us to understand why he has spoken and acted as he has, causing us so much pain. Perhaps, later, he can share his feelings so that we can understand him more deeply. If a strong   10  arises in us while we are expressing our suffering, we should simply   11  and come back to our breathing until the emotion becomes   12 . The other person can   13  us by following his breathing until we are ready to continue. We can enjoy practicing "Beginning Anew" with our partner, our family, or our friends   14 .
