In the depths of my memory, many things I did with my father still live. These things have come to represent, in fact, what I call 26 and love.
I don’t remember my father ever getting into a swimming pool. But he did 27 the water. Any kind of 28 ride seemed to give pleasure. 29 he loved to fish; sometimes he took me along.
But I never really liked being on the water the way my father did. I liked being 30 the water, moving through it, 31 it all around me. I was not a strong 32 , or one who learned to swim early, for I had my 33 . but I loved being in the swimming pool close to my father’s office and 34 those summer days with my father, who 35 come by on a break. I needed him to see what I could do. My father would stand there in his suit, the 36 person not in swimsuit.
After swimming, I would go 37 his office and sit on the wooden chair in front of his big desk, where he let me 38 anything I found in his top desk drawer. Sometimes, if I was left alone at his desk 39 he worked in the lab, an assistant or a student might come in and tell me perhaps I shouldn’t be playing with his 40 . but my father always 41 and said easily, “Oh, no, it’s 42 .” Sometimes he handed me coins and told me to get 43 an ice cream…
A poet once said, “We look at life once, in childhood; the rest is 44 .” and I think it is not only what we “look at once, in childhood” that determines our memories, but 45 , in that childhood, looks at us.

As we all know “ The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.” and “ 26 every successful man there is a woman.” Both these 27 mean the same things. Men rule the 28__ , but their wives rule them.

They don’t want to be told that certain jobs or 37__ are closed to them. They refused to work side by side with men who do the 38 work for higher pay.

On the other hand , this movement is quite 43 and many American women do not agree. 44__ it has already made some important 45__ in women’s lives.

Have you ever done something silly that made you feel so embarrassed(尴尬的)? Well, I had a really bad Saturday morning last week.
I went to town to do some shopping, and while I was walking through the park 31 my way home, it began to rain. I quickly ran into a nearby phone box because I didn’t have an umbrella. It was raining hard and I decided to stay in the phone box 32 it stopped.
A few minutes later, I saw a young man walk up to the phone box, wearing a yellow raincoat and holding a tool box. I didn’t want to go out into the rain, so I 33 the phone and pretended I was talking to 34 . I thought he would go away, 35 he didn’t. He just waited in the heavy rain, watching me wave 36 hands about and act as if I was deep in conversation.
37 , the rain stopped after about ten minutes. “OK, Mum,”I said loudly into the phone, “I’ll see you later. Bye!”I put the phone down and went out of the phone box. “I’m sorry to keep you 38 for so long.”I said to the man.
Oh,“I don’t want to use the 39 .”he replied. “I’ve just come to repair it. It doesn’t work, you see.”
I felt myself 40 in the face and I quickly ran off with my head down.

26 not uncommon to hear Chinese praising the play of their women on the volleyball court and 27 the play of the men. The topic is often laughed off as a joke, but 28 a reason for the perceived (感觉到) 29 of women’s athletics in China.
At the 2000 Sydeny Games, China’s women won 30 gold medals than the men. In Athens in 2004, the women won 19 gold medals, while the men won 12. 31 , American women accounted for 12 of the country’s 35 gold medals in 2004.
This summer, again the women are widely 32 to help with China’s medal tally(记录).wrestling coach Zhang Zhetian is counting 33 the women’s team for a wrestling medal. “Guys—you’ve got to push them more.” He told the Wall Street Journal.
Tennis coach Sun Jinfang shares this view: “Women know 34 eat bitterness,” she said. Sun has helped to put four double players into the Women’s Tennis Association top 30. no male Chinese tennis players are ranked.
Some experts believe they’ve 35 a reason for the disparity(不同). China has long respected strong women, 36 the folk hero Hua Mulan and the much-beloved former Vice-premier Wu Yi. This ideology(意识形态), they think, creates a space 37 women who are loyal, filial(孝顺) or who give service to the nation 38 .
“Besides China, no other nation gives equal financial support and media attention to 39 sports. That’s why China 40 challenge the US in medals---it treats men and women 41 ,” Susan Brownell, a professor at 42 University of Missouri in St. Louis who 43 Chinese sports, told the Wall Street Journal.
Now, however, more money is being 44 on men’s professional sports, which usually attract more views. This could change the gender gap as sports grow 45 commercialized (商业化的) in China, according to the Wall Street Journal.

A long time ago, there was an emperor(皇帝). One day he told his horseman that if he could ride on his horse and 36 as much land area as he liked, he would give him the area of land he had covered. 37 enough, the horseman quickly jumped onto his horse and 38 as fast as possible to cover as much land area as he could. Now I am dying and I only 44 a very small area to 45 myself.”
The above story is 46 to the journey of our 47 . We push ourselves very hard every day to make more 48 , to gain power or recognition. I am a mother of three and have recently completed my college degree. My teacher’s last 26 of the term was called “ Smile”. I am a very friendly person and always 27 at everyone. So I thought this would be very 28.
Soon after we were given the project, my 29 went out to McDonald’s. We were waiting to be 30, when all of a sudden everyone around us began to 31 , and even my husband did. There standing behind me were two homeless men 32 .
As I looked down at the short gentleman with 33 eyes, he said, “Good day.” The second man stood behind his friend. I 34 the second man was mentally challenged(智障) and the blue-eyed gentleman was his helper.
The young 35 at the counter asked him what they wanted.
He said, “Coffee is all, Miss.” Because that was all they could 36 .
I smiled and asked the young lady to give me two more breakfast meals on a 37 tray(托盘). I then said to the men, “ I did not do this for you. God is here 38 me to give you hope.”
When I joined my husband, he smiled at me, saying, “That is 39 God gave you to me, Honey, to give me hope.”
I returned to 40 with this story in hand. I 41 “my project” and the teacher read it. Then she looked up at me and said, “Can I 42 this with the class?”
I slowly 43 and she began to read and that was when I knew that we, as human beings, share this to help people and to be 44 .
In my own way I had 45 the people at McDonald’s, my husband, sons, teacher, and every person that shared the classroom on the last night I spent as a college student.

But after that __35__ at school, I was sure I'd made a huge mistake. Upon arriving home, I covered the mirror with a blanket, fell on my bed and sobbed.
The next day, I __36__ myself to go to school. At lunch my best friend Jesse tried to encourage me: "You can't _37__ forever, Tahlia. So what if you have a few scars? Just go outside and show them that you're just as good as they are." Although I knew he was right, I couldn’t _38__ standing up for myself like that.
However, that night as I sat on the bed, my friend's words replayed in my mind. I'm _39_ hiding from myself, I thought. How stupid! Slowly, I stood up, walked over to the __40__, and tossed the blanket aside. There, in the mirror I saw a slim, dark-haired, blue-eyed girl, looking just fine, _41__ with a few scars.
The next day I wore a comfortable T-shirt to school. What's more, I had lunch outside the cafeteria, _42__ beside those mean girls. They were shocked that I should dare to walk into their territory. I felt _43__ too—free and happy.
Sometimes people still look at me strangely. They _44__ and stare, but I don't let it get to me. I have applied to several modeling companies, and at least one company is considering me for jobs. Maybe I'll never __45__ posing on the runway, but I do know one thing: I'm done.
