We know people can be nice, but what about animals?

Scientists say that some animals are capable(有能力的) of being nice.Animals that live in groups﹣like foxes, chimpanzees (大猩猩),and elephants﹣follow rules. They have to followrules to get along and to survive(生存).However, animals can act nicely, even when they don't have to. Here are some surprising stories about animal behavior.

Most people usually walk away when someone is unkind to them.Marc Bekoff,a researcher at the University of Colorado, saw a female (母的)red fox do just that. The female fox was unhappy because a male(公的)fox played roughly(粗鲁地)with her. When she walked away, the male fox showed her that he wanted to play nicely. He lowered his head and rolled on his back. The female fox gave him another chance, and this time,he played more gently.

Geza Teleki is a scientist who studies chimpanzees in Tanzania. One day,Teleki hiked far away from his campsite. He didn't have any food.Teleki wanted some fruit from a tree, but the tree was too tall. A young chimpanzee watched him curiously as he tried to get something to eat.The chimpanzee climbed the tree, picked the fruit, and gave it to him!

An elephant in Kenya hurt his trunk(象鼻子).He needed help because he couldn't put food into his mouth.Researcher Kayhan Ostovar watched silently. He saw the hurt elephant show his sore trunk to a healthy elephant. The healthy elephant didn't need any more information. He took a bush and put it carefully into his new friend's mouth.

Hippos(河马)and crocodiles are usually good friends. They hang out together in rivers. But Karen Paolillo,a wildlife expert in Zimbabwe, saw something surprising. One day,a crocodile tried to eat a monkey that was next to a river.A hippo ran quickly to the crocodile and chased it away. Why did the hippo attack (攻击) the crocodile? Paolillo says hippos sometimes protect other animals from crocodiles.

The face﹣down generation(一代)

If you were born in the 2000s, you are called the oh﹣ohs. The 21st century. That would make you young, creative, connected, world﹣wide, and no doubt smart. Maybe good﹣looking, too. Right? But what do other people think about your generation?

Some adults worry that you're more interested in the screen in front of you than the world around you. They think of you as the "face﹣down generation" because you use your phone so much. They wonder how you will deal with school, friends, and family.

Other adults worry that today's youth are spoilt(溺爱)and don't want to face the challenges of adult life. Many children born in the 1990s and 2000s were raised by "helicopter parents". They were always there to guide and help their children with a busy program filled with homework and after﹣school activities such as dancing, drawing, or sports. With parents who do everything for them, today's youth seem to prefer to live like teenagers even when they are in their 20s or 30s.

Does the face﹣down generation need a heads﹣up? Well, probably not. The fact.is that many of today's teenagers are better educated and more creative than past generations. They seem to be willing to become leaders. More young people than ever volunteer to help their communities. There are also brave young people such as Malala Yousafzai, the teenager who won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize for pushing girls' rights to go to school.

So if you're one of the oh﹣ohs, there's reason to be hopeful about the future. Things are looking up for the face﹣down generation. Chances are that you do great and laugh out loud.

(1)If Alice was born in 2004, is she an oh﹣oh?

(2)Why do some adults think of the oh﹣ohs as the "face﹣down generation"?

(3)What are the parents called who always guide and plan everything for their children?

(4)How does the writer organize Paragraph 4?

A. Time order.

B. Space order.

C. General to specific.

D. Specific to general.

(5)What does the writer encourage the oh﹣ohs to do? Please list TWO.

"Unlike world leaders, "say the summit's organizers. "young people are refusing to let it drop off the plan. "

Each day has a topic, which includes food and fashion, looking at how humans harm the environment and how to save the planet.Organizations are leading some on line activities. For example, the Marine Conservation Society is hosting meetings on protecting sea fish.Separately, the environmental organization Greenpeace is running a workshop on how to turn worn﹣out clothing into something new and wearable.

The summit will finish on 13 November, when youth ambassadors(大使)wants schools to stop paper waste.Max,another 16﹣year﹣old ambassador wants schools to organize more trips and activities that get students outside to experience the beauty of nature. As part of the summit, hundreds of schools across the country are signing up to the Let's Go Zero activity, aiming to become carbon﹣zero(零碳的)by 2030.

Carbon﹣zero schools are ones that promise to stop emitting carbon in seven areas, including where they get their food and how they use water and recycle their waste. The activity is run by Ashden,a charity working towards climate solutions.Ashden hopes that schools will be able to help each other by sharing ideas and methods. It is also calling on the Government to back the promise.Head over to transform﹣our﹣world.org where you can find out more.

Helping Hally

Mom said, " ①have,we,Hally,help,to(. )"Help her how?" asked Sam.

Do you remember when we went to pick up Hally from her litter? We picked her because she looked like her mom.She is brown with spots, with long ears, and she was energetic,so we thought she'd be strong, like her mom.But how does she look now?" Mom asked.

"Well," thought Sam, "She' s still brown with spots and long ears, but she' s not very energetic or strong anymore. "

"That's what the vet said, too. We haven't been letting her exercise as much, and we've been feeding her a lot.She would probably look just like her mom now if we had walked her more. ② We have to start walking her more often. And then she'll stay healthy for a long time. Will you help?"

"Sure!" said Sam.He decided that he could play fetch with her every day in the yard, because then she could run and run and run until she was tired.
