On a June afternoon in 1752, the sky began to get dark over the city. As the storm broke, most people surely hurried inside, but not Benjamin. Franklin. He decided it was the perfect time to fly a kite. Franklin had been waiting for a chance like this. He wanted to show the connection between lightning(闪电) and electricity, and to do so, he needed a storm.
He walked into field, and flew a kite with a piece of rope tied to it. A key was tied to the rope. The lightning hit the kite, and electricity passed through the rope to the key. Franklin then touched the key with his finger and got an electric shock(电击). This, he said, proved(证明) the electrical nature of lightning.
For many years, schools have taught the story of Franklin's experiment. Millions of schoolchildren have been amazed by his courage and his scientific spirit of looking for the truth. However, new research suggests that the story may be fiction instead of fact. Although Franklin's experiment took place, more than one scientist has questioned what really happened. It's true that he did the experiment with the rope and the key. But scientists all agree that if Franklin had actually touched the key, he would certainly have died from the electric shock.
Scientists often question accepted ideas because they want to find out the facts. Some have even questioned the story about the apple that fell on Newton's head. Many reports suggest that although the falling apple certainly provided ideas, there is nothing to show that the apple actually hit him on the head,
In fact, fiction is often more interesting than the truth.People have been more encouraged by Franklin's spirit than by the facts themselves. But in science, facts should be tested by experiments and research, and we should not always believe everything we read or hear even if it is a great story.

For years, it has been said that newspapers are at death's door.Every year brings more news of closing. But why is the situation so terrible for newspapers?
Newspapers have a long history. The first newspaper was printed in the 1600s. Their most successful period is in the early 20th century.
With the appearance of radio and TV, however, newspaper circulation (发行量) began to fall.(3)By the mid﹣20th century, radio and TV had become so popular that people no longer had to depend on newspapers for news. That was especially true for breaking (突发的) news.
Afternoon newspapers were the first to suffer (受损害). After work, more and more people turned on TV instead of opening a newspaper. That was because TV could provide news happening a short time ago. It's true that newspapers couldn't compete with TV on speed, but they could provide in﹣depth (深入详尽的) reports that TV news could not.
But newspapers suffered another, heavier blow (打击) in the 1990s. With the appearance of the Internet, tons of information became free. Many newspaper readers realized that they could read news on the Internet. There seemed to be little reason to pay for a newspaper subscription (订阅).
So what does the future hold? Will newspapers die? Maybe not. Many newspapers are now making changes. Some are going digital (数字的). Some are going farther and taking the industry to places it has never been to. After all, people still want the news. And many agree that newspapers are still an important source (来源) of in﹣depth news, analysis (分析) and opinions.

Music helps us exercise﹣but why does it have this effect?Experts say there are two main reasons.The(1) is simple:music takes our attention away. When we listen to a song we like, our brains focus on the music. For example, after we exercise(2) 20 minutes, our body might be tired. But we may not feel this immediately(3) we are listening to music. So we can exercise a little longer.
Music also makes us want to move. When we hear dance music, for example, we naturally start to move to the beat. "But the music shouldn't be too fast,"(5) Dr. Costas, a famous sports expert. In general, songs in the range of 120﹣140 beats per minute (BPM) are the best.

However, the reform has demanded(要求)more from teachers. Now they have only 15 minutes to give a lesson that would have been taught in 40 minutes before. It is difficult to teach in such a short time. The teachers have to find better ways to teach more effectively(有效地).
"The reform demands more, but I'm sure it is helpful."added Linda.

Robots Are Now Teaching English!
Get ready. Robots are about to invade our classroom. From Korea to Japan to the United States, schools are putting English﹣speaking robots in front of their students. In Korea, robots are the new teaching assistants in a number of preschools and kindergartens. The young students say that the robots are fun, but are these children really learning anything?
I don't think a computer will ever be able to do what a teacher does. A teacher has to be able to respond to students as individuals (个体).__▲__and a teacher has to change his or her teaching style to fit the needs of the student. I seriously doubt that a computer will ever be able to do this even though the big data (数据)is widely used in the world.
4 Comments on "Robots Are Now Teaching English!"
Sara says:
In my opinion, schools should spend money training human teachers rather than buying robots. Research shows that children learn more from real speakers than from recorded conversations.
Keiko says:
I don't think you can learn a language without real human interaction. After all, robots cannot think as humans do.
Hassan says:
Robots might be able to help people lean a language, but I don't think they should replace teachers because robots are just machines without human feelings.
Nancy says:
I think robots might be very helpful in the classroom. A child might be less afraid to make a mistake in front of a robot than in front of a real person.

In other words, with or without these courses, they can make it anyway, because they are those who have the ability to learn by themselves.

My dear boys and girls good morning. Today I'm going to talk to you about my understanding of learning history.
Many of you may think it is a terrible thing to study history. You may often wonder why we students should study something that has nothing to do with our own lives. If you think that way, I should say you are far from the truth.
In fact, if we study history. we can learn quite a lot about personal stories and events (事件) of people just like us. The people who came before us helped build and develop the country we are living in. Their ides often solved many of our problems and troubles. Studying the past helps us to understand what our ancestors' (祖先) lives were like, And it also helps us to see how their experiences have shaped our own life.
To be honest,__▲__.Some of what we study in history helps us understand the mistakes of the past. And these mistakes will help people not to do the same wrong things. People often learn from the past to have a better future.
Whether we like the subject of history or not,we must understand the important of the events and the people who came before us. Our ancestors' decisions have influenced our own life.Similarly, the decisions of our own generation (一代人) will finally influence those who come after us.In this only way, the world is truly connected.
History is not just a study of the past. History is the study of people, places and events that can influence the future.
Now do you still think studying history is a sad thing? Or do you have any doubt about learning history? If you have any question, just feel free to ask.
