There was a time when Ryan was not able to come to school. He was in a great deal of   37      after having a surgery on his legs, but he   38   his sufferings from everyone.

He said I was the only true friend he had   45   made that talked to HIM and not to his wheel chair. How could I   46   such a request?
On the morning of June 5th, as I walked down the sidewalk, my heart   47   and my mind became a factory of questions. I kept wondering how everything was going to happen and how Ryan would   48   the huge crowd of thousands of people.
After the van arrived, the other runners got out and lined up outside the van, chanting his name, "Ryan! Ryan!" Then all of the people   49  in, “Ryan! Ryan!” The lift then lowered Ryan to the ground. There he was, in all his   50  .
It all became slow motion at the sight of the arriving torch. The runner lit Ryan's torch and then Ryan began his   51  . As he took off down the street, the chanting became louder and louder. The   52   filled the air and even I felt like I was on cloud number nine. I could not have been any prouder of Ryan! Mr. Weinheimer, the next torch runner, bent over and gave Ryan a hug. That moment will last in time forever. It symbolized the whole   55   of the flame: love, excitement, enthusiasm, brotherhood, and life of any man. The flame united us all and showed that love is really what makes this small world go around after all.

Not getting a new CD is not going to   19  my life. I can live with those kinds of problems. But losing someone I love would  20  make my life miserable.

Despite the great progress in medical science, human beings are constantly attacked by cancer, which means death. A woman named Bonnie suffered a   36   of discomforts caused by the treatment of cancer. She didn’t regard cancer as a   37   disease, but a laughing matter. She treated it in a humorous way. To put it in   38   way, she is teaching people that even though cancer isn't   39  , we can treat it in a humorous way.
Her second child was going to be born three months away   40   she was diagnosed with cancer. Suddenly, a   41   mother turned into a helpless woman afraid for her own   42  . It was after she had had her baby   43   that she had an operation.   44   came chemo(化疗)and her life seemed to be made up of fears and   45  . But the   46   moment in her life came after she lost all her hair and a free wig(假发) arrived. She   47   it on as her older son Kyler watched.
“That was when I decided how to   48   it: crying over this bad wig or laughing about it.   49   way would make   50   remember it.” Bonnie said. She spent a lot of time looking for anything funny from cancer patients. She got a lot out of collecting   51   stories. She started laughing a lot, finding it the perfect medicine. Using herself as a bald (光头) model, Bonnie   52    to design her own greeting cards and calendars, making fun of the sufferings of chemo.
"To have joy, we badly   53   to laugh," she said.
Clearly, you can increase your confidence to   54   over any disease and trouble   55    laughing.

I was very upset when I received your letter. I knew you  46  not like my results, but I didn’t realize you and Mum were so  47  with me. This has made me  48  very carefully about myself, and now I  49  how silly I have been.
My poor  50  have come from my own  51 . Of course, I want to do my best. I want you and Mum to be proud  52  me, but somehow when I get to school I just can’t keep my   53  on the subject and I stop  54  the teacher. So many other things seem so much more  55 , but I know that I must not  56  the chance you and Mum have given me. If I don’t work very hard  57  the next few months, I am going to get  58  results. So I am going to study hard this summer. And I will show Mum anything  59  I can’t understand so that she can give me help.
I  60  you will allow me to play some basketball. I think I need some exercise,   61 _ I will control the time I   62  on it properly.
If you want me to stop meeting Cindy, I will — but there is  63  serious. We are just good friends, and she often helps me  64  my schoolwork.
Dad, I am really sorry I have made you angry. I’m going to try my best to  65  my study. I promise that I will make you proud of me soon.
Yours,
Jimmy

What is intelligence anyway? When I was in the army I    21   an intelligence test that all soldiers took, and, against   22   of 100, scored 160.No one at the base had ever seen a figure like that, and for two hours they made a big fuss over me.
