The money was all my savings. She could save such a large amount of money because she lived a very simple life. She never learned to drive, and when she wanted to go somewhere, she just walked. In reality, reading is beneficial because it encourages us to slow down our thinking, and also to fully interpret someone else's experience. We read to escape our own lives and live in that of another for a little while.
