My husband and I insisted that our children were old enough to clean their rooms and make their beds. But they thought   1  . My complaints, even self-justified(自有道理)  2  , were always landing on   3   ears. Very often a whole hour’s scolding would end with their   4   into tears. I felt very frustrated. I realized I needed to   5   my method of “mothering”.
One day when they were at school, I spent some time tidying their rooms. On their desks, in plain   6  , I left the cards: “Dear Bill(the other card was   7   to Sarah), your room was messy this morning and I’m sure you like it clean. Love, the Room Fairy.”   8   arriving back, the children were   9   excited to receive the little note from the Room Fairy. The next day, their rooms were fairly tidy. Sure enough, there was another note from the Room Fairy   10   for them, thanking them for their nice “gift” of a clean room and   11   asking them to play a certain violin   12  . Each day, thank-you notes would be written differently to keep the ideas   13
Sometimes the Room Fairy would propose a little   14  : “If you can finish your homework and go over your lessons before dinner, I’d like to watch a particular television program with you tonight.” Sometimes some colored markers or other little items would be left in   15   of well-done jobs the day  16  .
17   I can’t remember how long “the Room Fairy” continued leaving her love notes. When they were age appropriate, we used various versions of Post-Its (贴条). The bathroom mirror became the  18   centre of our home. Appointments, notices about visiting relatives, lesson schedules, and changes in plans could be  19  .
We all benefited from and   20   the idea of sharing reminders and daily details of life through notes. I believe the true advantage of the Room Fairy notes survives in our frequent and enjoyable communication.

I'm glad you showed great interest in what is happening in China. You are right. I am very 21 of the great achievement that the Long March-2F carrier rocket successfully sent China's manned Shenzhou-9 spacecraft into space on June 16, 2012. Now, China is the third country in the world to use its own 22 to send a female into space.
I agree with you that if we work together and 23, the future will be ours, the two old civilizations will rejuvenate(焕发青春). The last thirty years has 24 great changes that have taken place in both India and China. We are lucky we are living in this great period.
You wanted to know more about Xi’an. Let me tell you: Xi’an is the biggest city in the 25 of China, with a population of over 9 million. Xi'an 26 the capital of China for over 13 dynasties. It was perhaps the most 27 and culturally advanced city in the entire world. 28 this place silk roads went westwards through Asia to Europe and Africa. Along one of the silk roads, over 1300 years ago, a great thinker called XuanZang 29 all the way from Xi'an to India with the 30 of getting true spirit of Buddha(佛). He succeeded after many 31 difficulties. After that, some new ideas from India spread over China, Japan and Korea. A 65-meter-high 32 called Dayan Pagoda was built for him for what he had done for the nation after he died, which 33 stands in the south of Xi'an, the most famous 34 of the city.
Xi'an is a city with splendid 35. A lot of historical interests attract millions of visitors from both China and all over the world, 36 which the Terra Cotta Warriors and the Old City Walls are the most well-known, whose details you can 37 find through the Internet.
Today's Xi'an is modern and even more beautiful, 38 to film-makers, IT experts, and business people of every description. Here in this city, famous for calligraphy(书法), a new chapter in China's history is being 39
I think you may have some idea of where I'm living. If you want to know more, come to China, I'll be your 40.
Tell me more about your city. Maybe my next long journey is India.
Hope to get your reply.

College was the best of times and the worst of times for me. Some years ago when I was in my first year in college, I heard Salome Bey sing for the first time. The moment was exciting. Salome’s   21  filled the room and brought the theater to life. I was so   22   that I decided to write an article about her.

One of my most ___41___ students was a five-year-old girl called Vanessa, who had difficulty walking, and could not speak. We ___42___ sat on the floor for our music lessons and Vanessa liked to sit on my lap. One of her favorite songs was “John the Rabbit.” It was a call and response song where I sang the call and the students ___43___ twice while singing the repeating phrase, “Oh, yes!” Vanessa liked to ___44___ her hands together with mine and clap with me. We probably performed that song during every class, Vanessa and I clapping together. But she ___45___ said or sang a word.
One day late in the school year, when the song was finished, Vanessa turned around, looked me dead in the eye, clapped her tiny hands twice and said the words “Oh, yes!” I opened my mouth in ___46___ and for that moment I was the one who could not speak. When my heart ___47___ started beating again, I looked over at the assistant teacher to find her also ___48___. Through music, we had made an awesome connection.
Several years later, I passed Vanessa on the street in town. I stopped my car and waved to say hello. She waved back with a big ___49___ on her face and then clapped her hands twice, imitating the song we had ___50___ so many times in our music class. This precious little girl, ___51___ her connection with music, left an impression on me that will last forever. Every child has the ___52___ to learn and grow. It is up to us as educators to ___53___ the way to reach each and every one of our students. We all must find each child’s ___54___.
