How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do you let a bad driver, impolite waiter, rude boss,or an insensitive employee  36  your day?
One day I was in a taxi and we headed  37   the airport. We were driving in the  38  lane when suddenly a black car drove out of a parking space right in front of us.My taxi driver slammed on his  39  ,slid sideways, and at the very last moment our car stopped and  40  the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car looked around and started  41  at us.
My taxi driver just  42  and waved at the guy.And I mean he was really  43 .So I asked,“Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!”This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call“The Law of the Garbage Truck”.
He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of   44  ,full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage  45  up,they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on  46  .Don't take it personally;Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.
Believe me.You'll be  47 .Don't take their garbage and  48  it to other people at work, at home,or on the streets.Life's too short to wake up in he morning with  49  . The mark of your success is how quickly you can refocus on what's   50  in your life,Roy Baumeister,a psychology researcher from Florida State University, found in his extensive research that you  5l  bad things more ofter than good things in your life, you store the bad memories more easily, and you  52  them more frequently.
Therefore, love the people who treat you right and ignore the ones who don't.Life is ten percent what you make it and  ninety percent how you  53  it!
When you follow“The Law of the Garbage Truck”, you take back control of your life! You make room for the good by  54  go of the bad.Have a marvelous,garbage-free day! The seeds you plant today  55  the harvest you will reap tomorrow.

Passing Your Love On
Waiting for the airplane to take off, I was happy to get a seat by myself. Just then, an air hostess approached me and asked, “Would you mind  36  your seat? A couple would like to sit together.” The only  37  seat was next to a girl with her arms in casts(石膏绷带), a black-and-blue face, and a sad  38 . “No way am I going to sit there,” I thought immediately. But a soft voice spoke, “She needs help.” Finally, I  39  to move to that seat.
The girl was named Kathy. She had been in a car accident and  40  was on her way for  41 .
When the snack and juice arrived, it did not take me long to  42  that Kathy would not be able to  43  herself. I considered  44  to feed her but hesitated, as it seemed too  45  to offer a service to a  46 . But then I realized that Kathy’s need was more  47  than my discomfort. I offered to help her eat, and  48  she was uncomfortable to accept, she  49  as I expected. We became closer and closer in a short period of time. By the end of the five-hour trip, my heart had  50 , and the time was really  51  spent than if I had just sat by myself.
I was very glad I had reached  52  my comfort zone to sit next to Kathy and feed her. Love  53  flows beyond human borders and removes the fears that keep us  54 . When we stretch to serve another, we grow to live  55  a larger and more rewarding world.

The afternoon on December 25 in the waiting room, I was the nurse on duty. When I felt sad about having to    1  on Christmas Day, a woman and four small children showed up at my desk.
“Are you all sick?” I asked. “Yes.” the woman said    2   and lowered her head. But when it came to telling me about their    3  , things got a little surprising. They all seemed to be well and there was nothing    4   with their body.
Why did they tell a   5   that they were all sick? I did not say anything but    6   that it might be a little time before a doctor could    7  them . The mother said, “Take your time. We can    8   here. It’s so warm.” When she finished the register chart, I noticed she didn’t write down their address----were they    9  ?
I looked at the    10   around the Christmas tree. The children were excited and    11   to be healthy. The littlest one was pointing at the Christmas tree and said something to the mother. Then I was sure that they came here not because of    12   but only for warmth.

Later, as the family was to    20  , the youngest child ran to me and said, “Thank you very much. Good bye. ”

I used to hate being called upon in class mainly because I didn’t like attention drawn to myself. And  1     assigned(指定)a seat by the teacher, I always   2   to sit at the back of the classroom.
All this    3    after I joined a sports team. It began when a teacher suggested I try out for the basketball team. At first I thought it was a crazy   4    because I didn’t have a good sense of balance, nor did I have the   5   to keep pace with the others on the team and they would laugh at me. Without the teacher who kept insisting on my “   6    for  it”, I wouldn’t have decided to give a try.
Getting up the courage to go to the tryouts was only the   7   of it! When I first started  8    the practice sessions (练习赛), I didn’t   9   know the rules of the game, not to mention what I was doing. Sometimes I’d get    10    and take a shot at the wrong direction—which made me feel really stupid.   11   , I wasn’t the only one “new” at the game, so I decided to   12     on learning the game, do my best at each practice session, and not be too hard on myself for the things I didn’t   13   “just yet”.
I practiced and practiced. Soon I knew the  14   and the “moves”. Being part of a team was fun and motivating. Very soon the competitive  15   in me was winning over my lack of confidence. With time, I learned how to play and made friends in the process (过程) — friends who respected my  16    to work hard and be a team player. I never had so much fun!
With my    17     self-confidence comes more praise (赞扬) from teachers and classmates. I have gone from “   18”in the back of the classroom and not wanting to call attention to myself,    19     raising my hand—even when I sometimes wasn’t and not 100 percent    20    I had the right answer. Now I have more self-confidence in myself.

Sometimes I really doubt whether there is love between my parents. Every day they are very busy trying to   36  in order to pay the high tuition for my brother and me. They don’t act in the   37   ways that I read in books or I see on TV. In their opinion, “I love you” is too   38    for them to say. Sending flowers to each other on Valentine’s Day is even more out of 39    .
One day, my mother was sewing a quilt. I sat down beside her. “Mom, I have a question to ask you. Is there    40    between you and Dad?” I asked her in a very low voice. She didn’t answer immediately. She    41    her head and continued to sew the quilt.
I was very worried because I thought I had  42    her. I was    43    and I didn’t know what I should do. But at last I heard my mother say the following words:
“Susan,” she said thoughtfully, “Look at this thread.Sometimes it   44   , but most of it disappears in the quilt. The thread really makes the quilt   45   . If life is a quilt, then love should be a thread. It can hardly be seen    46   , but it’s really there. Love is    47   .”
I listened carefully but I    48     her until the next spring. At that time, my father suddenly    49    seriously. My mother had to stay with him in the hospital for a month. When they returned from the hospital, they both looked   50    . It seemed both of them had had a serious illness. After they were back, every day in the morning and dusk, my mother helped my father   51    on the country road.
“Dad, how are you feeling now?” I asked him one day.
“Susan, don’t    52    me.” he said gently. “To tell you the truth, I just like walking with your mom.”   53     his eyes, I know he loves my mother deeply.
Once I thought love meant flowers, gifts and     54    . But from this experience, I understand that love is just    55   in the quilt of our life. Love is inside, making life strong and warm.
