After fighting cancer for 13 years, my grandfather became ill enough to be admitted to hospital. One morning, he was having trouble breathing, but continued to silently hold my hand. I kept forgetting his special request that grandpa wanted me to fetch a New Year card that my late grandmother had given him on their last anniversary together.
