In three days I will leave China behind for a few weeks and head back to Australia to spend time with my family and friends. This will be a very trip for me as, for the first time ever, I will not be to my hometown. You see, my parents sold their house in my hometown and moved about 500 kilometers away.
As it me that I would be returning to a whole new place, I was with two questions: Do I still have a hometown? Where is my home? I needed to do some research.
After reading A Story from the Chinese Diaspora, I learned I was not alone in feeling about where I call home. In the story, a Chinese American girl with finding her identity and her past with her present. I realized the place we live now and the place we lived then, have a great over who we are, where we long to be and where we feel and safety.
Back to My Motherland of a woman who left her motherland years ago and started a new life in America--the place she now calls home. But, some people move on from their hometown and a new life somewhere else, others have a strong to the city that they grew up in. In Hometown Boy we learn of a man who clings(坚持) to his and continues to make his hometown a of his life for now and for the future. He makes it his to give back to the community that has given so much to him and his family.

I was shopping at my local supermarket, as I normally have for years. One particular day, I had done about 2 weeks worth of shopping and toward the register to pay for my groceries. After the cashier had scanned my items and I had bagged them up, she stated that the was $150.

I want to thank her.” She pointed to a young girl about 10 years old and says, “She did.”
I walked over to the mom and hugged her. She said, “It wasn't me, it was my ” . I said “I know, I wanted to thank you both, she found it ... it's because of you that I got this back.” I was so happy, I was almost in tears.
The next day at work, a person in another department me tickets to the circus. He handed me 5 tickets. Almost that young girl’s face popped (突然出现) in my head. After work I went back to the supermarket and stopped at the courtesy counter and asked if she had any idea who that woman was. She smiled and said, “Yes, She is a friend of mine”. Travis laughed as he tore at the wrapping paper on his birthday present．He was so ! Finally, he would have the coolest pair of name-brand basketball shoes．
