The Chinese Characters Dictation Competition, which requires contestants to hear spoken words and then write the correct characters, is shown on CCTV every weekend. Since July, organizers of the competition have been reviving (重新使用) characters that have fallen out of general use, such as weirui (葳蕤) and liewen (裂璺).
