Have you thought about what determines the way we are as we grow up? Remember the TV program Seven Up ? It started following the lives of a group of children in 1963. We first meet them as wide-eyed seven-year-olds and then catch up with them at seven-year intervals (间隔 ) : nervous 14-year-olds , serious 21-year-olds , then grown-ups.

My family and I used to live in Belgium, and, to me, life was great. Most of my relatives and friends lived there, so there was never a of aunts to spoil me or children to play with me.
My father is a journalist, there wasn't much work for him in Belgium at that time. When I was eight, he he'd found a good job in London and that we were going to move there.
