Mr.Flowers’ glass-houses were close to a middle school. Boys of around thirteen years of age were often tempted(引诱) to throw a stone or two at one of Mr.Flowers’ glass-houses. So Mr.Flowers did his best to be in or close by his glass-houses at the beginning and end of the school day.
But it was not always possible to be on watch at those times. Mr. Flowers has tried in many ways to protect his glass, but nothing that he had done had been useful. He had even picked up all the stones that he could find around his garden , so that the boys would have nothing to throw, but they soon found others.
At last Mr.Flowers had a good idea. He put up a large notice made of good, strong wood, some metres away from the glass-houses. On it he had written the words: DO NOT THROW STONES AT THIS NOTICES. Dear Alice,
You really have two difficult questions here, so we’ll discuss them one at a time. Your problems at school may be a result of a number of things. You don’t say much about how these classmates get along with each other. It’s possible that all the students are feeling a little cautions(谨慎) in the first term.
It’s also possible that the others are unkind. If this is so, you have to find out why you are the class “outsider”.
In your letter you often offer to help others with their work. Is it possible that your classmates didn’t understand your offers? Could it seem that you were trying to “buy” friends with these offers?
Is it possible that you took no notice of your classmates when you had your good friends near you? They may have left hurt at that time. It may take a time for them to believe in you. If so, try to ask one classmate directly what the problem is. If you hear a negative(负面的) answer,at least you’ll know what to do.
Yours,
Shelia

Grandma lives with my aunt in the country not farther away. Yesterday was her sixtieth birthday. My parents and me decided to visit her. Early on the morning we bought some flower and a big cake and went there by bus. Grandma and aunt were all glad to see us. We gave her our presents and she is very pleased. When we sat down and began to talk, aunt went to cook lunch. The meal was very delicious that we all enjoyed it very much. At 4:30, we say goodbye to them and came back. We had a better time at my aunt’s yesterday.
