The world marked Safer Internet Day 2015 on Tuesday. Its goal is to make safer and more responsible use of digital technology for children and young people. And China was worried about Internet safety, too. China had 648 million Internet users by the end of 2014 and more than 70 percent were worried because of Internet security(安全).
Besides the safety of computers, servers and online content, cyber(网络的) security includes the safety of national interests.
China has been the target of cyber attacks, over 10,000 Chinese websites are tampered(干预) every month and 80 percent of the government's websites have been hacked(遭遇黑客).
Chinese President Xi Jinping told a meeting that "no Internet safety means no national security” in February,2014. Countries should respect for each other's sovereignty(主权) in cyberspace. When governments regulate the Internet within their boundaries, they should act in line with laws and regulations, which is what China has been doing.
As information spreads so quickly and widely, and cyber security is a common challenge faced all around the world, all countries should start to take action to protect the Internet environment together, just like this year's slogan (标语) for the Safer Internet Day -- "Let's create a better Internet together".Were over 70% Chinese Internet users worried because of the Internet security?
