Earth Hour(地球一小时) is a global event organized by World Wildlife Fund (WWF) and it is held on the last Saturday of March every year. It asks people to 26 their lights and other electrical appliances(电器) like computers for one hour. In this way, people can pay 27 attention to the climate(气候) change and know that it’s important to save the earth.
Earth Hour first 28 in Sydney in 2007. More cities around the world followed Sydney’s lead in 2008. 29 March 28, 2009, 88 countries and more than 4,000 cities joined Earth Hour. From 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., Beijing, Dalian, Hangzhou, Hong Kong and many 30 cities in China took the action, too. 31 shops closed and people used candles at home.
