In the USA, people prefer waiting for a table to sitting with people they don't know. If you're sitting at a table with people you don't know, it's impolite to smoke without first asking if it will disturb them.
In American restaurants and coffee shops you are usually served cold water before you order. You may find the bread and butter is free, and if you order coffee, you may get a free refill(再注满).

We have heard about people who have special memories．Recently there has been a report about a woman from Australia who can remember almost every detail （细节） of all the events in her daily life．
