Ye Shiwen was born in Hangzhou, Zhejiang on March 1, 1996. She began swimming when she was only six years old.
Ye is not only(不仅) China’s youngest swimmer at the 2012 London Olympic Games, but also(而且) the fastest. She won two gold medals(金牌): one in Women’s 200m Individual Medley(混合泳), and the other in Women’s 400 m Individual Medley. She even broke the world record(记录) in the 400m event!
