The London Eye
The London Eye was opened on New Year’s Eve in 1999 to celebrate the Millennium (千禧年). It is 135 meters high, and from the top you can see the whote London. On a clear day you can even see Windsor Castle, which is 40 kilometers away. The London Eye has 32 capsules (密封舱), each with room for 25 people. Each “trip” lasts 30 minutes. It moves quite slowly, at a speed of about 15 meters a minute, but it never stops. Passengers have to get on when it’s moving.

Health experts predict that soon, more people will die from cancer than from AIDS, tuberculosis (结核病)and malaria combined（疟疾）. They expect that by 2013, cancer will become the world’s leading cause of death.
Experts say one reason that more people are dying from cancer is because they are smoking cigarettes in developing countries. 40 percent of the world’s smokers are believed to live in China and India alone. One day after school Mr. Tillman found Philo Farnsworth making drawings on the blackboard in the school-room.
