For years John Hannant Kept a photograph of his long-lost sister, hoping they would meet again. Margery, the eldest of the three children, had signed up to the Royal Air Force as part of the war effort, when John was still a baby. One of the qualities that most people admire in others is the willingness to admit one’s mistakes. When I was about 12, I had an enemy, a girl who liked to point out my shortcomings.
