One day, when I arrived at school, an ice cream truck was parked in the schoolyard. Ice cream men usually drove their trucks to primary schools. I had never thought one ice cream truck would come to bring ice cream to us older kids. When I went up to the truck, I was quite surprised to hear the man call out, "Free ice cream!" To make sure of his words, I asked, "I'm sorry, what did you say?" "Free ice cream. Choose whichever you like." he said, smiling.
After I was certain that the man was just giving away the ice cream, I talked with him for a long time. He told me that his dream had always been to travel around giving away ice cream, and that's what he was now doing. With his mother's support, he kept doing what he loved even during hard times. Now, however, some large companies are helping him his plan.
The man said he wanted to encourage people to do exactly what their heart told them to do with their lives. I kept asking him, "So your dream was just to drive around and give away ice cream? It seems like a very unusual goal." "Yes, just meeting people and making them smile," he replied. At that point he handed me my ice cream. I thanked him, but what I got from him was much more than just an ice cream. It can't easily be explained in words. I believe what he is doing is exactly what a great person does all the time: small acts of big love.

|A．the man became rich
|B．the man could produce ice cream
|C．the man could travel
|D．the man's dream came true

I once believed that a friend is a friend all the way. Now I have changed my ideas about friendships.
1. Friends of convenience(便利). They can be the people who live next door or the mothers of our children’s closest friends. Friends of convenience are good indeed. They’ll help us when we need it. They’ll look after our cats when we go on holidays. But we don’t ever get too close or tell too much. Between us, we’ll talk about being overweight but not about being sad or disappointed(失望). However, people still find it necessary to make friends like this.
2. Special-interest friends. These friendships aren’t deeply personal or emotional(感情上的). They lie in some shared interests, so we may have an office friend, a tennis friend, or even a shopping friend.
3. Historical friends. We all have a friend who knew us when…maybe we were back in the second grade of primary school, when our family lived in that two-room flat downtown. He or she was the first, the only friend we told our secrets to.
The years have gone by, and we have gone different ways. But we’re still a personal part of each other’s past. We know how we looked before our teeth were straightened(矫正), and our getting together makes us think of an earlier part of ourselves, which is important and never lost.
4. Cross-generational friends. These are friendships that from across generations(代). I have in my own life a precious(珍贵的) friend, a woman of 65, who is clever, who listens well, and who means not only an ideal mother to me but also the person I’d like to be when I grow up.
Best friends, I believe, totally love and help each other.
|Description of friends
|Friends of convenience.
|They can be theor the mothers of our children’s closest friends. They can help us when we are in need. Though we don’t talk about all the topics, this doesn’t mean it is for us to have friends like this.
|We usuallysome interests with our special-interest friends, so we may have different friends like an office friend, a tennis friend, etc.
|We got to these friends when we were very, so we know how webefore our teeth were straightened. Over these years we havegreatly, but our getting together can help us remember each other’s happy old days.
|Cross-generational friends usually aren’t from own
generation. Maybe a friend like this is the one I want to be like in the.
In one way of thinking, failure is part of life. In away, failure may be a way towards success. Edison, the iof the light bulb（灯泡）, made hundreds of models that failed before he found the right way to make one. Once he was asked whe kept on trying to make a new type of battery when he had failed so often, he smiled and said, “Failure? I have no failure. Now I know 50,000 ways that won't w.
So what? First, always think about your failure. What caused it？Were conditions right? Were you in top from yourself? What can you change? Then you can decide wto keep on working hard or try it in a better way, and things will probably not go wrong ntime.
Second, is the goal you're trying to reach the right one? Try to do some thinking about what your real goals may be. Think c about this question. “If I am able to achieve my goal, where will it get me?" This may help you prevent failure in things you shouldn't be doing anyway.
The tthing to keep in mind about failure is that it's mother of success. Don’t give up easily. Learn to “live with yourself" even tyou may have failed. Maybe this will help you sin what you are doing in the end.
