Have you ever had the strange feeling that you were being watched? You turned around and, sure enough, someone was looking right at you!
Parapsychologists (灵学家) say that humans have a natural ability to sense when someone is looking at them. To research whether such a “sixth sense” really exists, Robert Baker, a psychologist (心理学家) at the University of Kentucky, did two experiments.
In the first one, Baker sat behind unknowing people in public places and stared at the backs of their heads for 5 to 15 minutes. The subjects(受试者)were eating, drinking, reading, studying, watching TV, or working at a computer. Baker made sure that the people could not tell that he was sitting behind them during those periods. Later, when he questioned the subjects, almost all of them said they had no sense that someone was staring at them. For the second experiment, Baker told the subjects that they would be stared at from time to time from behind in a laboratory setting. The people had to write down when they felt they were being stared at and when they weren’t. Baker found that the subjects were no better at telling when they were stared at and when they weren’t.
Baker concludes that people do not have the ability to sense when they’re being stared at. If people doubt the of his two experiments, said Baker, “I suggest they repeat the experiments and see for themselves.”

A.Prove why humans have a sixth sense.

【江苏省常州市2015年中考英语试题】阅谈理解(共13小题;每小题2分,满分26分)
阅读下列短文,从短文后各题所给的A,B,C,D四个选项中,选出最佳选项并在答题卡上将该项涂黑。
D
Is your TV connected to the Internet? What about your chair or your fridge? It is possible that they are not. But in the future, most things in your home may be connected, as the so-called "Internet of things" is developing.
The Internet of things may be coming sooner than you think. It is reported that during his speech earlier this year, Samsung CEO(首席执行官)BK Yoon spent a lot of time talking about the Internet of things. He said that five years from now, every Samsung product will be part of the Internet of things, whether it's a washing machine or a vacuum cleaner(吸尘器).
So, how do household(家用)objects that are part of Internet of things work? Well, think of a usual chair. When connected to the Internet, the chair warms up when it knows that the user has just walked into the room and is feeling cold.
An Internet-connected camera, like a smart-home camera, could help people feel safer in their homes. It can recognize(识别)people's faces, and even can see when someone passes by in the dark. Then it can send you a message on your smartphone to let you know who's there. If the person is someone you don't know, it can tell you that, too.
But according to MIT Technology Review, whether companies are connecting dog food bowls or security(安全)systems to the Internet, there may be problems. For example, many early connected-home devices(装置)don't have much built-in security, which means they could be hacked(被黑客攻击),In addition, it could be difficult to get these devices to work together because they are made by different companies. To fight this, many companies have joined the Open Interconnect Consortium, which had 45 members by late 2014.
So, picture this: you walk in through the front door of your home. The temperature changes to make you feel comfortable after a long day at school. Your favorite music starts playing for you. Do you think that this would be a good thing? It may happen sooner than you think.
The Samsung CEO's speech is mentioned to prove that_____.

A.the Internet of things will appear in our daily life sooner

D.he spent a lot of time talking about the Internet of things

We can infer(推断)from paragraphs 3 and 4 that

B.a usual chair can warm up when it knows the user comes in
C.an Internet-connected camera can be used to take photos in the house
D.an Internet-connected camera can be connected to the user's smartphone

According to the passage, it is mentioned that_____·
①the temperature inside is neither too high nor too low
②your fridge provides the drinks for you
③the chair warms up if you feel cold
④your favourite music starts playing
⑤your washing machine starts working

A.①②⑤ B.②③④ C.①③④ D.①④⑤

What's the problem about the Internet of things?

A.Companies which produce connected-home devices haven't joined together.
B.Connected-home devices may not work together and can easily get hacked.
C.Companies have difficulty connecting security system to the Internet.’
D.These new devices are produced by different companies.

There are many colors in nature. But do you think that a color has weight? I think you'll say 6/no". But I'm afraid you are wrong. If you don't believe it, you may do a small experiment(实验).
First, put two objects with the same weight into two boxes. Then cover the boxes.
Third, wrap(包裹) one box with a red piece of paper, the other one with a white piece of paper. OK. Now hold the boxes with your hand one by one. It is certain that you will think the red one is a little heavier.
Why do you think so? A scientist found that different colors have different weights in man's mind. That is to say, every color has its own weight in our mind.
The scientist told us that colors also have smell. Can you smell the color? Of course not. Then why did the scientist say S07 That is because every color stands for (代表) a kind of light with a certain wavelength,(波长). It reaches our brain through sense organs According to this discovery, scientists say that people accept the colors they like, and refuse the colors they hate. So your body and mind will be healthy by using the colors you like. Or you'll be nervous or even get ill.  For example (例如) ,  you like blue and hate red.  If you stay in a room with red windows, wallpaper and furniture(家具) for two hours, you'll feel you have been there for four hours. But if the room is blue, you'll feel you have been there for only an hour.  And, if a person walks out of a blue room and into a red room, his temperature will rise.
That means our body temperature will change with different colors.
From the experiment, we know that          .

A.the two boxes have the same weight

D.colors can influence our mood(情绪)and health

The passage is probably____.

An important part of learning something is making sure you plan your time and use it well. If you want to remember
things well, you need to review information you’ve learned. Try to follow the advice:

DO
DON’T
●Make a study timetable at least three weeks before your exams and follow time to relax and have fun.
●Review little and often.
●While you’re studying, have short regular breaks. A short break every 45 minutes is good idea. Stand up and walk around— you will feel more awake.
●Try making a weekly plan showing what you do every day(school, travel, meals, etc). You might see where you’re wasting time that you could use to study or read.
●Study for hours every night a week before your exam! Studying for hours the night before will make you tired and your brain won’t work well.
●Study for a long period of time without a break. You probably won’t remember information very well if you do this
●Worry too much. If you feel nervous, you won’t learn as well as if you’re relaxed.

When learning something, you’d better make a plan first.
Make sure to review as much as possible every time.
You’ll feel more awake after a 45-minute break while studying.
If you worry too much, you can’t learn well.
You should stay up late the night before exams.
